quote:

Last summer, playing for the United States national team, he tried to prepare for the transition to the pros by soliciting advice from the Knicks’ Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler. He stuck around Chandler, who lectured him on post defense, how to stand and to anticipate where the ball would go and what offensive move to expect.

Davis looked lithe Sunday, certainly next to Anthony, whom he found himself guarding at one point. Anthony eyed Davis, and dribbled and waited. Davis retreated, his right hand checking Anthony, when suddenly Anthony rose and shot. A foul was called — if Davis reacted fast enough to even do that — and the shot went in.

In every game there is a lesson like that for Davis, Williams said. Some opponents will overpower him and his 220-pound frame. Others will outsmart or outquick him. The Hornets, whose oldest starter is 25, expect Davis to lead.

“So he might as well get used to it,” Williams said.

I don't know that I'd call him the leader(yet)... but for home games when AD is in the game... their's a different feel on the floor.
