I guess it's because Jan. = resolutions but I've read at least 3 articles in major media newspapers regarding gyms that cater to the fat (maybe cater is the wrong word).
Some offer facilities with no mirrors because the fat don't like looking at themselves. Some have gone so far as to reject membership for the fit.
In my gym there are lots of fat guys. They either have denial (I'm just big boned) or they don't give a shite. They associate/converse with the rest of the members who are not fat.
However, women are a different issue. There are no fat women. When a fat woman joins, they seem isolated. They do not talk to the fit. After a few weeks they don't come back.
As a libertarian I have no problem with a gym restricting its membership to only fat people. But what if the opposite happened? What if a gym said we won't allow fat members? Perhaps the obese shall become the next group protected by political correctness.
Your thoughts?

Gyms are for working out. You want to talk, go to a bar.

This. Although I once heard a fat woman tell her female trainer "you look older than you are". I thought the trainers head was going to explode.

I despise the fat acceptance movement. Being fat is a choice. And I understand that the deck is stacked against many people, but that doesn't mean shite IMHO. people know what to do, they just don't do it.
Oh, and my gym has only fat chicks and no fat dudes. Its 60-40 men to women, but I can only think of one fat dude and he is Old. Probably older than you, so the oldest you can get without being dead.
Most of the women are relatively fit, but there are at least 5 women I see regularly that are fat.
I applaud the fatties trying to slim down.

Fat people NEED to be ostracized and teased.
I wish someone had done that to me when I gained a shite ton of weight my junior and senior year of college and was a lard ass. Might have lost the weight sooner than I did because looking back on it now it was just disgusting.
Fat people definitely need to pay higher health insurance. But I'm sure now it's going to count as a "pre existing condition" or something

there are a few regulars I talk to, they are all pretty nice and I see them 2-3x per week. It would be rude to not acknowledge their presence. But keeping your headphones on signals I don't want to talk to you, you fat frick.

This falls kind of falls into my smoking argument...
No 'ban' on smoking or 'rulings against' fat gyms. If there is a market, people will cater to them. Let's go back to segregation, except this time it is behavior-based, which is fine with me. God I hate the fricking media.

Per some of my PC friends, they say this just demoralizes them and makes them fatter.
I just tend to ignore them.
its easy though b.c I live in CO. And there are like 15 fat people in the state.

Well women in general are already more insecure and have less self esteem, so this shouldnt be much of a surprise.

CSB: I was coming back from Key West from New Years this year.Got on the flight and my side of the aeroplane had 2 seats. i had, as usual, the aisle. I notice there is a fatty sitting in the aisle seat. I tell him the aisle is mine. He then says:

As the plane is about to taxi back, he actually calls the stewardess, and complains that I'm not sensitive to his needs as a larger person.

Although there is a dude at the gym who has lost hundred+ lbs in the last year. i don't count him in the fact category b.c he has lost so much weight.
There is one chick at the gym I feel sorry for. She is in great physical shape, she just lost on the gene pool. I watch her work out, and she can do more leg lifts, more pull ups, and has better cardio than me. But she is still thick, pretty thick in fact. IWHI b.c she has a cute face and I know she is in shape.
