a NC title last year would make everything that happened this year much less disturbing. LSU was so very close to facing Okie State and likely would have won. Then, CLM would be in a class with some of the greats of college football coaching. It was so close and had nothing to do with anything CLM did. In fact he did all he could, but got dealt the Old Maid and then laid an egg against 'Bama in the game of the century part deaux.

One of many reasons to become fans of the playoff system.

I'm more pissed about 1/9/12 due to the fact that we got bent over by the system more so than the game itself. Made me feel hopeless

It's just so dang difficult to beat a team twice in one season.. Bobby Bowden even said it was nearly impossible..

The "system" was obviously correct. Did you not watch the game? If the "system" screwed us at all, it was by putting US in the game so we'd get corn-holed on national television.

LSU beat Georgia twice on the way to winning the national title in 2003...

...under Saban

Not sure I get your point.

Bama deserved to be the number two team, but we got jobbed having to play them again.

Your blaming the system for making us play Bama twice as if it was a 100% foregone conclusion we'd lose the rematch with them.

Well, if it was REALLY a 100% foregone conclusion we'd lose...wouldn't that be a concession that we weren't the best team right off the bat?

The BCS didn't cost us the title. A guy in a hat did.

That Iowa State win over OSU haunts me more than the actual Bama NC game. If a fantastic kicker would have made a pretty easy kick, this would all be different.

If they deserved it...we didn't get jobbed.

I don't get this attitude. It's like saying "I know we weren't the best team...but we deserved the trophy...so I wish we would have avoided the best team...so we could have a trophy saying we were the best team"

We had to go win the SEC title game for beating them, they got rewarded for losing the game of the century. That's getting jobbed.

I remember Saban said it wasn't hard basketball teams do it all the time. LOL

Football is so much different than basketball.
If you look at almost all bowl rematches. the team that wins 1st has about a 10% chance of winning the rematch.

We had nothing left to prove going into the title game. Already beaten the #2 team in the country, won the SEC Championship, had the best record in college football, and played the toughest schedule in the country. We had everything to lose

The problem is the intellectual dishonesty and inconsistency exhibited between who is "deserving" and the "best" in any given year. Bama did not deserve jack shite last year. They were 1-1 vs ranked competition and lost the game of the century at home. frick that. If I were USC 06-08 I'd be pissed too. They didn't deserve it but we're probably the second best team each year.

To your point, yeah, it blows bc that one ge could have changed everything, like George McFly punching or not punching out Biff at the dance.

No, in the historical context and based on any precident in college football, they deserved nothing because they accomplished nothing to that point other than losing a close game.
