I know a lot of folks on here watch a lot more movies than me. What are some of your recommended movies from the last 5 years or so that are more realistic than the big hits?

I really enjoy "big" movies like the Dark Knight Trilogy, Avengers, Skyfall, Inception, etc, but now I'm in the mood for something well done, but lower profile.

Drama, comedy, or action is fine, but I want something a little more realistic than the usual stuff I watch (i.e. no superheros, aliens, time travel, or shoot-em-up).

Some stuff more along the lines of The Fighter, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Social Network, The Wrestler, Up in the Air, and The Hurt Locker.

I know you say no time travel, but if you've never seen Primer, you should watch it immediately. One of the most "realistic" time travel movie ever made. It's very good.

I liked it. It wasn't a laugh at every turn comedy and it wasn't some teenage angst bullshite. It was just 90 minutes of fun.

And who could ever get tired of seeing teenage girls boobs?

Don't remember how old it is but have you seen Runaway Jury?

Just watched it again recently.

The hurt locker is no more realistic than skyfall or a batman movie.
