Seeing on twitter that the Malloofs have sold the Kings to Chris Hansen. Return of the Sonics?

Haha that was my first thought as well. But no, it's the Chris Hansen that has been involved in the new Seattle arena deal.

Lol @ Seattle Kings, haven't they said from the get go that a new relocated team would become the Sonics again?
This is tough for me, I was a Sonics fan growing up, and switched to OKC when they moved, being local and all too.
I guess I'll have a favorite team 1a, and 1b.

Yes, it would be the Seattle SuperSonics again if this rumor is true.
Seattle already has a set of incredibly rich owners (Nordstroms, Steve Ballmer, and Hansen) that want to buy a team and a stadium deal worked out to the point where they would start building almost immediately after a team is officially acquired.

sorta off topic, why the heck wasn't Houston able to keep the Oilers mascot and brand?
I hate the Texans mascot it's been done a billion times and the Oilers with the derrick on the helmet was bad arse. The powder blue kinda sucked, but if Cleveland keeps the Browns and if this Seattle deal goes through and they become the Supersonics again what's the deal.

I don't think there was a big uproar to keep the name and colors by Houston. From what I remember, the move didn't generate the same local backlash as the Cleveland and Seattle moves. There were agreements in place for the Sonics and Browns before they left their respective cities, probably as a appeasement - Hey, you're losing your team, but you can keep your name and logo until a team moves back here.
