| Numbers after graduation and Early entry into draft (Posted on 1/8/13 at 7:12 pm)
Were we at 85 as far as scholarship players at the end of this season? Does anyone have the actual number of scholarships available with the latest spots opening? We know that hey can sign 25 and back count 4 early entries from last year.

no one does because we had transfers in and out, not sure when bolden would start counting anyway. We also had guys leave or kicked off. And of course we still dont know every one that is leaving early fr the draft. Also not sure which guys wil transfer between now and next season, also dont know how many of those academic casualties will be back for next year. Your guess would be good as any, but im guessing it would be close to 58 if we are looking to bring in 27.

well, they were bringing in 29 this year without the knowledge of how many were leaving. Which leads one to believe, that they would be under the 85 limit next year.

No they werent. In fact the coaches stated they werent going the full 29. The coaches have more of an idea on who is leaving ealry than everyone. Les miles actually sits down with these guys to weigh their options. Also if you follow recruitng, every d line committ we have has said all off season and season long that the coaches expect to lose as many as 6 dlinemen. Playing time will be available. the coaches know/knew

im assuming they cant. So some guys will never make it to campus, some will have to grey shirt. Espn should run a piece on them for oversigning.

Pretty sure we were way under 85 this year. 2 guys not make it cus grades, 2 guys transfer, 2 guys off the team, one of the academic casualties was a sr so not sure how that works out. Also didnt hear of any walk ons receiving a scholly. Maybe Porter finally got his. At one point this season, UF game, we were missing 23 scholarship players. that's a lot.

you said they were bringing in 29 before they knew who was leaving. im telling you that the coaches said they were not bringing in the 29 and that they did have a pretty good idea of who was leaving. So you are welcome Whats so hard to understand? They are under the 85. if for nothing else tyrann goes bye bye. They were sitting at 84. I also said your guess is as good as any, which is why i said somehwere around 58 if they lan on bringing 27. Again they never planned on 29. Never.

They wont sign that many, some have already started to lost spots. But they only signed 20 or so last year, if that IIRC...and some didnt make it to campus and some counted back to 2011. Basically this year they can technically count back ten spots....which they probably won't do come Feb, maybe more like 7 or 8 count backs

We were right around 85 last year, and its gonna be the same next year. Always works its self out. And expect us to sign 28 or so guys, with one or two not making it to campus. Hopefully we have 8 EEs show up over the weekend

I guess, and thanks to those who replied. My understanding was, they could count back 4 and sign 25 to this class as long as they stayed under the 85 team limit. I don't think that even the coaches would have thought that this many jrs. would be leaving. Brad Wing is a red shirt sophomore. Spencer Ware and Micheal Ford are 2 names that popped up late. We expected Sam and Mingo and possibly Reid. Minter wasn't expected to have the season that he had. Are we really losing a transfer to Tulane? They aren't even naming TM7 as and early entree because he is no longer on the team. I am just saying that this is an abnormally large group of underclassmen leaving. How many Srs. are we losing in this class and how many other players left the team this year not being mentioned with this group?
