In your opinion which is more likely for LSU next year, winning the West or placing 4th in the West? I really believe we will place 2nd or 3rd again next year, but I can't help but feel like 4th is more feasible than 1st next year. Bama and A&M lose little, bring back a lot, and bring in lots of talent as well. Topping both of these teams will be a very difficult task especially with our East schedule next year. We beat Ole Miss by the skin of our teeth this year and they return virtually everyone. They will undoubtedly be improved under another year with Freeze, and I'm not so sure that we're a better team next year overall. What says the rant?

If this year taught me anything is that bringing back loads of talent doesn't always mean everything. I mean, look what we returned from an undefeated regular season and look how this year turned out.

Umm bama loses most of their oline, which is probably their biggest asset. ATM loses a good bit on defense as well as their two top ol. Lets see how dangerous Jff is when he' s lacking two top 10 draft picks blocking for him.

I predict 9-3. Not sure where that puts us in the west but really what's the difference between 3rd or 4th

1st in the West, simply because I think that based on the fact that we saw real flashes from Mett a few times this year, there is a better chance that he becomes a true badass than there is that the team totally falls apart (which is what I think it would take to end up 4th)

I have my doubts about putting too much stock in anything that happened after Alabama. The season was over at that point anyway.

we tend to perform better with less expectations.

I think our only loss in the West is to Bama. A&M losing their star tackles will hurt a lot, IMO.

I could definitely see this, and maybe 1 loss to UF/UGA. But that wouldn't get us 1st in the West. I don't think 1st or 4th is either very likely, but I see the greater odds lying with 4th

Exactly. I don't know what everyone's expectations were for 2011, but I don't think anyone predicted we would go 12-0 in the regular season, win the SEC, and get a BCS Championship berth. Not many people predicted that. Maybe we just need to play under the radar to have success.

both are rebuilding OLs that were stacked this year, assuming the two OTs at aTm go to the NFL, which will hurt more than people realize right now. Look at LSU this year.

Agreed, we will have to win the head-to-heads against them.

aTm had a harder time beating Ole Miss but I don't really see anyone worried on their end. Also, OM has traditionally played us extremely well in BR. Go back and look at the history and you will see almost all the big wins come in Oxford, the close ones come in BR. OM will be good, but we should be better.

We have a lot of question marks, but the good thing is we rotated alot of people this year and I don't think there will be much drop off from the starters this year. If you look at the losses, we will have Faulk back to replace Josh D., Porter played center this year when Lonergan was out, the rest of the OL returns, all the WRs are coming back as of right now and the starters definitely will be, We are bringing in TEs with really good hands so hopefully that will be another offensive weapon, Qb returns, we return Blue, Hill, and Hilliard. On defense, Freak and Ego will be DTs, Rasco will fill in for Montgomery, the other DE will be a question. The LBs are fine, the secondary will be fine. Mills will be the #1 CB and Collins will be #2 unless he gets beat out for the spot, and we have a stud coming in with T.White at CB. I think talent-wise we will be just as good, experience-wise not as much on the defensive side, but I trust Chavis. I think it actually helps LSU to let the hungry young guns fight for the starting spots. LSU should come out with a chip on their shoulder next year becasue everyone will be bowing down to Bama and aTm in the West and FLorida and UGA in the East and we get to play all 4 of them. I twill be tough, but I don't see LSU finishing 4th in the West. Major stuff would have to hit us for that to happen and I think we got our quota on major stuff hitting a team this year, tbh.
