if they are worried their stock will drop if next season goes poorly.

I mean I get the whole "get paid" thing and don't blame a soul for doing it.

But, not all of these guys are exactly in the "gonna hit it big" category. There's a reason many players stay an extra year when they think it means they might move up a round or two.

Players often leave when they think they've maxed out their draft status or worry it will back up. IE, I completely get Ware leaving because he's as marketable today as he's ever going to be.

Some of the others? Hmmmm

I can think of anyone on defense that would improve their stock drastically, and if I'm an offensive player its a no-brainer. The offense is where your stock dies.

The reason they are leaving is they have the choice to play next season for millions or scholarship money. It doesn't matter how many millions they are making cause its more than they'd make spending another year in school.

All these players were expected to go pro with the exception of Minter and possibly Simon.

After the season Minter had, I don't blame him. Simon has two kids, I think, so you can't blame him.

The only one I'd be super ticked at is Faulk, if he goes. Loston is a toss up to me but I'd like to have an experienced safety instead of a brand new player.

Ford would surprise me too, if he goes.

Most of them already have their degree. Keep that in mind too.

Reid, Minter, Montgomery, they all have their degrees. Maybe more but those are the only ones I know of.

2 years as ALL SEC type performers.. is a lot to put your self in the Draft picture..... aking a lot to try to make it three...

But I wish they had the hunger to win a NC...

If you can bump up from 4th round having not played the season befor (Faulk) to the top 2 than you can make mo money they you first year than you would your first two.

8 have declared so far.

I said there could be more, those are the only ones I know of for sure. That's almost half the list thus far. Wing doesn't because he hates school, Ware, I don't know but he may. Simon I doubt. Not sure about Logan, it's certainly possible.

There was probably a snowball effect, yes. Nobody wants to get left behind.

Maybe he thinks his family could use the money. I know he's got a younger sister that I think is a HS Sr next year. His family isn't hurting for money but maybe he doesn't want to risk an injury playing another year. It's been a while since LSU has had an OL guy get drafted (besides Barksdale).

Well look at matt barkley. Went from the first pick of the draft to not even going to be the first qb taken.

Ciron Black was predicted to be a 1st rounder after his JR year. Came back, got hurt and didn't get drafted.

Before the season he was a top ten pick.

I have no idea where he is now. But, I haven't seen his name even mentioned among the candidates.

Barkley is a great example. The NC dream just isn't worth the risk of staying.

how many more no longer are buying what Miles is selling. If you believe there is a shot at the title, you may stay another year. If not, you experience a mass exodus.

Not sure if they've declared yet, but Loston and Faulk could go a lot higher with a solid senior year. Also think Simon could play his way in to a 1st round pick with another year. The four that are certain 1's or early 2's probably have more to lose than gain. Ford and Ware would have a hard time doing anything in another season of wear on their bodies, so they're making the right decision, imo. Insane to lose a sophomore punter, but he's going to get drafted which is tough to pass on. If Benny Logan can really get taken as high as some draft analysts believe then he should go for it as well.
