A non football move
Posted by bastropbham on 1/4/13 at 11:35 pm00
So I am self inflicting myself by watching a replay w/ Clemson and Roscoe is called for an non football move. I've never heard of this in my life. Anybody know of a similar call in CFB?

Yelling out the snap count on defense isone example of a "non-football" move.
Or, flinching and jumping at the O-lineman to try and get them to false start.

After watching the replay it's hard to fault the second down call. The obvious call is to run the clock down which is hard to argue. However, the receiver was wide open and Mett missed a wide open receiver on that play. If he made the throw and the catch was made Miles would have been lauded for such a great play call. If you watch the replay slomo the running back probably would have been stuffed on that play unless he made an exceptional move. IMO Mett didn't play a bad game. He had very little time to throw the ball on any play. Probably had too much time on the last play which he wasn't used to. Clemson has a good team. We just have too little imagination on offense. I frankly feel much better having watched the replay. We played well but so did they.

Which thread should i be on? i was in N'awlins celebrating New Year's Eve and only caught the last 4 minutes or so of the game. My wife wouldn't have been happy if i had foregone a New Year's celebration for watching the game. You make your own rules. I'm aware of mine. So i just watched the replay which i hesitated in doing knowing the outcome. Something wrong with my logic?

if you have the technology at your disposal, and have sufficient intelligence to use it, you will see that LSU was called for a Non Football Move foul in the 4th quarter which may or may not have had a significant outcome on the game. I have known of that foul to be called. Have you???? Simple question really.

Relax, man. I was agreeing with you. I didn't get the call and just wanted to tell you that his last name is Rasco, not Roscoe. Wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything.
Cool the jets.

You been a pussy all your life? Grow a pair. I went to the game while my wife was at home with the kids. She knows the deal during football season. In the offseason, I thank her by doing things she enjoys.

Tampa Bay Bucs were called for something similar in the Saints game @TB this year.
Saints lined up for a FG and one of the TB LBs yelled for a shift and the entire line shifted, causing a couple Saints players to false start. I guess in the NFL, it's a personal foul for unsportsman like conduct.
If Rasco did imitate a snap count or continually flinch to try to draw a false start, it is a penalty.

I have still NEVER EVER EVER EVER seen anyone else get called for " ROUGHING THE SNAPPER" like we were at Auburn about a decade ago
re: A non football movePosted by PDTigerfan on 1/5/13 at 6:33 am to holygrale
Seen that penalty twice in my football career. Rule is you cannot hit the snapper while his head is down during the snap. You have to let him get his head up before engaging him or its a penalty. Its a safety issue. The position they have to be in the snap the ball(head down looking backwards at the kicker) they could get fricked up for life if they were to be hit while in that position.

I thought it was a BS call. It was 3rd and 4, the Clemson lineman flinched and Rasco stood up and pointed at him.
This almost always results in either a false start penalty which would have made it 3rd and 9 or no call would have been made and the play would have been run.
Instead "defensive delay of game", which I've never heard of, was called and Clemson was given a first down near the red zone which allowed them to continue the drive which resulted in Clemsons last TD.
It was one of several bad calls at critical points in the game that went against us and benefited Clemson.
That being said Clemson outplayed us for much of the game and capitalized on what was given to them and we didn't make the plays we needed to.
