Reds are fun on the fly, especially via the yak.

I don't think I could handle a yak tournament. I would have to paddle further than usual and to unfamiliar spots.

not necessarily. I placed 3rd in my first one. launched off the side of the road and fished within 500 yards the whole time

it's really not bad at all. most tourneys alot a HUGE area to fish. just leave that morning to wherever you fancy and make it back by weight in time. sure, you will see other people depending on where you go, but you can fish and see no one but your group the entire day. i like getting away for the weekend and fishing more than the tourney. that just adds to it.

Do they ever have tournaments around Cocodrie/Dulac? Also, who's to say you can't go catch some fish by boat and show up at the dock for weigh in?

It's just an honor system I guess.

Closest one to there is PAC

i like to fish that area. a guy i work with owns tradewinds and he is trying to set up a tourney at his marina. he is currently talking to them.
mostly it's done on the honor code. everyone seems to police each other pretty well. usually the biggest prize would be a pro angler or KC kayak so we aren't talking big sums of money. they are very well run IMO.

Well, keep me updated on that. I'll be bringing my yak to my camp soon and I'll be all over that area until spring time.

I wonder how the fishing is down 23? I haven't taken mine out in months

Haven't been down there in a few weeks, but I always see people launching kayaks off side the road by Grand Bayou Village just before Port Sulphur. Unfortuantely I'm stuck to fishing off the bank, so I don't know the spots they paddle out to but they come back with reds in the yak

I'd be interested in going this weekend if the weather clears up. Anyone interested, holla.
