I'm in Lafayette for the night and I'm looking for a good local restaurant to eat at, no chains; any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe seafood or something else unique to the region

Mazen Grill has really fresh seafood. There is one in Lake Charles too, but not a chain.

I don't find Phares to be very good. At all.

I was disappointed with maze s on my last trip. I ordered snapper and am pretty certain I was served black drum. Their other menu items are good , just don't trust their seafood

In my experience, the one in Lafayette is very dependable for fresh seafood. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've been impressed.
