I've been hearing lousy reports from around the state from places that tend to produce ducks year in and year out.

We had a phenomenal first split, but its been downright lousy since then. I've hunted every single front and plenty of days between during the second split and we just aren't seeing many birds. We finally have the water to hold big numbers, plenty of food, just no sign of the birds. We've slipped up and had some good hunts, but it requires some creativity and a lot of walking, also only works once. The birds we do have are blind shy and have been around a while. I am hearing very similar reports from around the state, including SW Arkansas, NE LA, SW LA Marsh, Venice area. Overall, just a lack of consistency.

Just curious to see how many OB'ers are currently experiencing a similar fate with the ducks this year? I'd ask that you not pummel my spirits if you've just been slaughtering the hell out of them...because thats just sort of a dick thing to do.

Numbers are down in Venice. I've been hunting down there for 20+ years and it's one of the worst seasons that I remember when it comes to duck numbers. Cousin that lives down there and hunts down there a lot said the same thing. Hoping for a high river and good feed for next season.

Better than average year in the Jones area, so far. One of the better years out of the last ten.

Horrible year for us in Welsh in a field that usually produces good numbers.

My buddies place is about on track for a typical year, they are around 460-470 I think right now. Went out there last week and literally shot 23 birds out of 3 flocks, two of about 40-50 and one that was prob close to 120, never seen flocks that big.

I have some buddies who are hammering the ducks and some who aren't killing shite. Seems like they are more isolated than usual

My place in mer rouge has been pretty average for most the season with way above averages the 2 weeks either side of Christmas. However, my place south of hwy 15 around alto which tends to be one of the better places around has been terrible this year
