| So I started DayZ (Posted on 1/3/13 at 11:59 am)
I really like it, except for the fact that I die every 10 minutes after seeing someone. I finally found someone that would help me and we were running into a town then we got mowed down... I don't like the fact I don't have a map to see where I'm going... I need people to play with! Any tips??

oh how I miss the days of actual exploration and the feeling of pure terror when getting lost in a zone. (I'm being serious)

What's the point of killing someone who just started the game? Don't you start with nothing?

Pull up a map from Google and alt-tab Or print it out But yeah, you feel completely lost and helpless at first. That's the appeal imo

Just last night some guys didn't kill me. I grab a gun out of their back pack and mowed all three of them down. Kill everyone. Trust no one.

Depends on the server. Some private hives everyone starts with guns.

The server I played on started me with a flashlight, bandage. I just would like to know where I'm going, and I don't like when I die I have to literally back out of the server to respawn..

What I'm really Afraid of is getting a lot of stuff and getting far and then just die and start all over like nothin happened, I understand that's a point in the game but I just dont like that

Play on less populated servers at first and stay out of populated areas except for some quick equipment grabs. Until you really get use to the game and get some better weapons people will pretty much rape you if you hang out in the major cities.

It does suck, but there is a strange appeal to that. It makes you really really not want to die. You will find yourself scouting out cites with your binoculars before you enter and sticking to the tree line and shite like that. Stuff that you wouldnt normally worry about in most other games.

I was so pissed the first time I died that I didn't play for 3 months. I was a bandit with a silenced pistol and some sniper rifle. I've now accepted the fact that I will die and just enjoy finding friends and surviving.

Search for Day Z map in google. I think it's day z db that shows the loot areas. Make sure you always have plenty of food and water when traveling. Good luck.

I'm pretty much a noob myself and have only been playing for a month or so, but I had to take a 2 week break after my last death. I was JUST starting to feel good about myself. I had myself an AK an a revolver with plenty of ammo, a pack full of supplies, and all of the goodies like a map, compass, binocs, etc and pretty much full health. When I loaded the game I noticed that there was literally just me and one other guy on the server so I wasn’t worried about other people at all. I had just walked into a town and when all of a sudden I “hear” an ax hit me. In my WTF state I turn around and see the only other a-hole on the server standing there with just an ax decked out in bandit garb. Before I could even fire a single shot he hit me again. I managed to get a couple of pistol rounds into him (yes I had my pistol out because it was quieter for the lone zombies) but not enough to slow him down. Im near death and bleeding so I run to the woods and try to bandage myself thinking he didn’t see me. As I was applying the bandage he came up to me and finished me off. I was more embarrassed than anything that a guy with an ax had just killed me and my AK and pistol . What really pissed me off thought was that I’m pretty sure this guy was using some kind of hack to track me on the map and was just waiting to ambush me. It took me a while to get over that. But like you said…you just have to accept the fact that you WILL die. Once you get use to it you will know where to go to “regear” pretty quickly.

What is the best way to axe down zombies? I always seem to get hit when trying this method.

the hacking, bull shite deaths, server hopping, and being able to escape out of a firefight when things didn't go your way are what drove me away from the game
