| Read 'No Easy Day' Over the Holidays...(SEAL/Bin Laden Raid Book) (Posted on 1/2/13 at 11:27 am)
The book really wasn't that much of a revalation, although it was a fun read. Some parts that I thought were fascinating relative to the poli-board: (1) The SEALs on the mission, according to the author, to a man did not like or support Obama; (2) The SEAls felt as though they were used by Obama for his own gain; most interesting... (3) The SEALs on the mission did not want to meet Obama, but were essentially forced to do so, forced to sign a photo for the president and... were disarmed (pocket knives and the like) prior to entering the same room as the president. For some reason that last part really pissed me off (assuming it is true). Now, that may not have been (likely was not) the decision of the president. However, what does it say about our commander in chief when those that protect him don't feel comfortable with our own military personnel being around him with even a pocket knife?

Yes, I'm sure Obama is the first and only President whose Secret Service detail didn't allow any visitors to carry weapons around...

It's an interesting story with many details differing from "official" media reports. Mentally, I tend to filter out most political references but I enjoyed the book.

That doesn't make it right. You are the Commander of the military and you don't want to be in front of military personnel with weapons? That is odd to me.

So in your mind, a member of our military that disagrees with the president's politics is automatically a threat to kill him...makes sense.

Doctors usually find anything not from the lips of Glen Beck/Rush to be odd.

Boy you are reaching here. In my mind. Weapons and presidents don't mix. And since it's standard operating procedure to disarm people around the president (with the exception of his bodyguards) you sound pretty whiny.

The Finish? That is Mark Bowden's worst book. Peter Bergin's book is much better. 1. No Easy Day 2. Manhunt 109098709809. The Finish.
