I don't ever remember seeing any team college or professional struggle so much on short distance. I don't know the stats but I would like to know how many times we turned the ball over from not being able to pick up 2 yds or less. In my eyes this was the tale of this season it cost us Alabama and Clemson for sure. Hopefully in the off season this will be worked on!

I agree and its because of Greg S. He is too predictable. He needs to go. I am so over his bullshite high school play calling

You saw a great gameplan by Clemson defence, and a very unimaginative LSU offense. Clemson chose to utilize the same gameplan every other defense that played us well used this year with great success. Load the box and minimize our ability to effectively run the ball. Make Mett & Stud try to beat you passing the ball. Clemson gambled they could get enough three and outs to stay in the game and eventually wear down the LSU defense. It worked magnificiently.

Of course they were helped by a total inability of MILES/STUD/METT to audible off the initial gameplan to make the Clemson Defense pay. The few times we tried screens they worked but we really did not utilize them much. We should have incorporated some misdiretion plays to take advantage of an extremely aggresive Clemson run defense. Of course our offensive line was very ill-prepared to play this game. It was is if they watched no film at all or were not motivated to play.

Defensively LSU def backs should have been playing much closer to the receivers. They were playing like they were trying to take away the long ball. The issue was Boyd rarely had time to throw the long ball, but he constantly bailed himself out ALL FREAKING NITE by dumping off between 8-12 yards to wide open receivers. Terrible perfomance by our def backfield.

Miles and/or Stud amaze with their total inability to make effective offensive in-game adjustments

When your play calling for 95% of the years totally predictable, teams will sell out to stop the run. Every team in the nation knows that on 3rd and 2, or 3rd and 1, that LSU will cram the ball up the middle.

Unless the bowl game is on the line, then it's time to air it out with a qb that hasn't thrown many passes in that spot all year long.

Players have to execute. I'll be happy to see an OC on staff, but Stud's calls at the end of that game were hardly what anyone expected. QB didn't execute. 3rd and short running play in second half, nobody accounts for the backer lined up ready to shoot in on the RB. On a couple of these plays it seemed obvious that the QB should have changed the play based on a defensive shift and it just didn't happen. In two losses this year, the play calling was not "predictable" in my opinion, but plays were not executed and it put the defense in difficult situations and on the field too long. Given our challenges in the defensive backfield, this was a recipe for failure.

The good news is that I don't remember seeing the infamous straight toss that we do all the time. Or maybe I missed it somewhere in there...

That's probably why Hill averaged over 10 yards per touch.
