Permanent Opponents - Simple Solution

The SEC should come to a compromise solution. Basically, the schools that want permanent opponents can keep them, while the schools that do not want permanent opponents can not have them.
If we assume that Alabama/Tennessee and Auburn/Georgia are the ones that want to to keep, then we could schedule as follows:
Over a 12 year period, those schools would play each other every year, and each of the other 6 teams would rotate into their schedule, 2 years at a time. They would play the other 6 schools twice in 12 years.
After those games are scheduled, this will leave 20 open spots in the other five schools's schedules, as (for instance) LSU will play Tennessee twice and Georgia twice in those 12 years. The other five schools would then play each other 4 times (total of 20 games) over that 12 year period.
The Pac-12 reached a similar comprimise with the California schools being split, but still playing every year. We should be able to make this happen.

If another pair of schools were determined to play every year, such as Missouri and Arkansas, then the others would play each other 9 times every 24 years, and play the rivalry schools 6 times in that 24 years.

Just let Tennessee/Alabama and Auburn/Georgia play games as non-conference opponents when they rotate off their schedule as conference opponents.
Problem solved.

Not a realistic answer. "should win" is a subjective term, and even a team that we are better than can beat us, given the right scenario. (Case in point - Texas A&M and Alabama this year.) In order to set a level playing field for all conference members, none should be subject to greater peril on a consistent basis.

Also not a realistic answer. People need to stop suggesting this, as it has NO CHANCE of ever coming to pass.

The same coaching that lead us to 10 victories and had us in a BAMA game that no one gave us a chance at?

Our OL was in shambles for the UF game. A freshman CB's rookie mistake was the difference against the Tide.
This year may have been one of CLM's better coaching efforts, considering how much unplanned attrition we had.

Simple is rotate all the teams and the ones that want to play that aren't in the rotation can schedule it as a Nonconference game.

This thread was not to discuss coaching!
Stop taking every thread into the same dark abyss, and allow for some new conversation!!

Way to read the thread...
But again, this is not realistic. If it's a straight rotation, then you would play each team twice in 7 years. So you are suggesting that the other FIVE YEARS, these schools lock up their non-conference schedules with another SEC team? That's pretty absurd. Stop it.

i agree with op. it is simple, it works, its fair to all involved.
eta: everyone who comes to post something along the lines of "the tigers should just win all of their scheduled games, no matter who is scheduled", please dont post. what are u adding to the convo?

Considering LSU gets Florida and Georgia as our cross-divisional games this year, I guess LSU fans are expected to just lay back, relax, and enjoy what the Birmingham based SEC Administrative pricks have in store for us.
On the other hand, Bama gets Tennessee and Kentucky, which is only fair according to the SEC home office.

Just move the Alabama schools to the East and move two east teams missouri and kentucky to west

Preaching to the choir, maybe.

expand to 16 teams and have 4 divisions. Only permanent opponents are your 3 divisional opponents...
LSU
A&M
Ole Miss
*new team*
Bama
AU
UT
MSU
UF
UK
UGA
*new team*
SC
Vandy
Mizzou
Arky

screws up the UGA Auburn game.

Even easier, just let divisional games count for the divisional championship.
Have the tie breakers based upon competition from within the division.

LSU played its worst game of the year against Fla. I forgot Les told OBJ to fumble after that long catch and told Minter to get hurt and sit out while Florida scored its only touchdown.

So we stick alabama, auburn, Florida, Georgia, and UT in one division so we can keep the iron bowl, TSIO, Cocktail Party, and Auburn Georgia game. While LSU is the only big six member in their division? fricking brilliant. Why doesn't LSU suck it up and play a big six cross divisional rival like the other ones do without bitching about it.
