If you had $500k that you will likely need in around 6 months, where would you invest it?

I would like to get better than the sub 1% returns from most CD's and bank accounts. Also, I am not entirely risk averse. A 10% or so loss wouldn't be a killer.

Someone on here was saying TEU (Box Shipping Inc) pays ridiculously high dividend yield and their price to book ratio is extremely good

Wow! TEU paying 21% dividend. Must explore.

I have BBEP (10), LRE (11.1) and QRE (11.9)

Still looking at BP - 5.1

Also have UVE (insurance) at 7.7

i said this but i was just making a point that if you wanted to throw money at something uncertain i thought it was a better value than tesla. its not a long term investment but could possibly be a nice trade if the market rallies.

What is this money for, exactly?

And if your bottom line loss is 10%, you might as well put it in an MMA.

I may be buying commercial property for my business and expanding a little. Total project is around $5 million. So assuming 80% LTV for the loan, my partner and I would each need around $500k. It's possible we might do it in 2 phases, with the first phase being around $3.5 million, so I might be ok with some loss - 10% isn't an exact number.

I am talking to my financial advisor after the holidays and will probably end up in a MMA. I just wanted to get some ideas to run by him.

If you have to have the money, then sub 1% is the going rate. Anything more and you are taking additional risk.

MMA, especially since you don't even know for sure yet that you are purchasing the property.

If you can take a 10% loss, put it in the bank, two accounts.
6 months is not an investment horizon, only a gambling horizon .
