Would guess you would do best with the standard deduction but hard to gauge your return without knowing how much tax has been withheld year to date

I figure your agi would be 15,370, tax on that would be 562.00. If you paid 2800 in federal tax your return should be 2238.

After standard deduction and personal exemption, you will have almost nothing in taxes owed. Standard is around $5800 and personal is $3700...subtract that from your gross income and you dont have much left.

$5950 and $3800. Plus, you should be able to get a $500 Amer. Opportunity credit for the books, if you go at least half-time for at least half of the year.

Didn't realize that the standard had increased that much. Are you sure that is for 2012 and not 2013?

I believe that's correct for 2012. Was looking at the standard ded. for MFJ and it's $11,900 for 2012. We'll be itemizing though
