I was wondering what he'd been up to for the last year and a half. One of the most expensive fullbacks in football history, no?

Sure, and SAF has been manager of United for longer than I've been alive. So, I'm hardly an expert. I've just never gotten the impression that Manchester United was the absolute biggest club in the world, mostly when it comes to recruiting non-English speakers (Ronaldinho, for example).

No mention of the incredible advantage that the Spanish superclubs have with their tv money?
There is a saying in Spanish, what has bacon got to do with speed? Nothing, absolutely nothing.

Their advantage in the TV rights revenue department is over other Spanish clubs, certainly not the likes of ManU.

I believe RM is second in the world, so logically, ManU would be first.

Totally going to use that in a conversation.

Yes, but you understand that both clubs draw tv revenue from a total pool of tv revenue from the league? I realize that Spanish clubs negotiate their deals separately but the fact is that Man U gets roughly 1/20 of the EPL tv rights (yes I understand clubs who finish up top receive a slightly higher portion) whereas Barca and Real are getting over 1/4 of the La Liga tv rights each.

If you assume that total pool of tv rights for the top 2 leagues is roughly equal (I know it's not exact), then the spanish super clubs have a huge financial advantage over any English club in Europe.

I think they are comparable, with RM MAYBE getting more. Then again, I´ve seen where Manu gets much more CL revenue (based upon results, maybe the league structure of CL revenue receipts is different between the two leagues), so basically, it´s a wash.

Again, we´re speaking of the world´s greatest club, yet, it´s not of the English speaking world, so I think Manu is right there in nearly every key performance indicator, and if I´m not mistaken, is superior.

I´ve never heard this (before Rafa said it). Must be a Levante area thing.

I don't think it's a wash. Two clubs get over half of the tv money in Spain whereas in England all 20 clubs split the tv money. If Man U receives marginally more UCL money, I don't think would come close to bridging the gap between themselves and one of the Spanish giants.

The gap is €11M for the period in question, according to what I´m seeing. Es muy poco.
