There is one rumor that Haslam is prepared to offer Saban a $100 million deal over 10 years to coach the Browns.
Two sources who know Saban have told me that Saban is leaning toward staying at Alabama and if he ever sought to scratch that NFL itch again, it would not be in Cleveland. Once Saban left Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., said one source, he has never traveled north of Tennessee.
Sexton and Lombardi could be scratching each other’s backs on the Saban rumors, said one source. The theory is that Lombardi gains stature with the Browns by forwarding this tall tale, and Saban inevitably will gain a new deal with Alabama. The Crimson Tide could and would re-up whatever it takes to keep him, said a source.

Damn there's a lot of "sources" in that rumor.

Did he skip the Penn State and Kentucky games? I don't think he's going, but this article is BS.

I just posted it because the number seems absolutely ridiculous. Will Saban even coach for 10 more years?

You need a source to tell you that?

Sexton has been floating that number for 2 years.
AWESOME

That number has been floated to Texas, for sure. The reason is the 9 figures - nobody is going to get much over $10 million OR 10 years, but if you combine those, it's the first $100 million coaching contract in history.

Mal Moore is confident Saban will stay - straight from the AD - he's gone!

Saban's a great coach, but he's not worth $100 mill, though.

He would be an idiot to turn that down IMO. Plus the browns really aren't that bad

Just looked at the article and thought this nugget was interesting:
Sounds like something someone else on this board said a while back:
Saban doesn't like Lombardi
quote:
I have now have had three credible sources – two in the NFL and one in the college ranks – swear to me that Saban has no attraction whatsoever to Lombardi. One insisted Saban wouldn’t work with Lombardi “in a thousand years.” Another on Monday said there is “zero chance” Saban would leave Alabama to work alongside Lombardi in Cleveland.

so he would be 75 when his contract is up? Smart move.

Lomabardi himself said Nick Saban wouldn't work in Cleveland, or the NFL, again.

And they all end up saying Saban is going to stay at Alabama Saban ain't coaching ten more years anyway, wherever he is. The just continues to be a whole lot of wishful thinking by LSU folks. Pretty much every thread like this is started by one.

I don't see Saban going back to the NFL.
There was a time when he wanted the challenge. He has since learned that he has no advantage in the NFL...and that his success in the NFL is far from guaranteed. His time in Miami was nothing short of a failure. It was about to get bad when he bailed and he knew it. He left while he could plausibly say that the NFL just wasn't for him vs. saying he failed.
I don't think he's willing to lay it on the line again. He's going to stay in college where he knows he can get it done at the highest level.

Saban isn't stupid. Jumping in the Cleveland dumpster fire is not a smart move. Money isn't the issue with him I'm sure.
