John, Absolutly. The previous coaches and administration have decimated that school, not to mention all the private schools pulling away some talent. Hopefully, with this new coach and a new administration; they can right the ship. They do have enough talent right there in the hallways to be competitive.

CLHSTROJANS- Didn't you say CL had a good running back? I remember seeing a speedy, shifty kid for the CL/SL game. Looked like a good player. Is he a jr? I also saw in the Gazette today the coaching hire you mention... Menard I believe his name is. Sexy hire!
We had 2 really good running backs this year.
Senior - Bryson Davis 6'2 195 lbs - 4.46. He's getting interest from D1 schools, most recently Hawaii & Georgia Tech, but he still needs to get qualified. Someone told me he's waiting on his ACT.
Sophomore - Thomas "Rudie" Wesley 5'7 160 lbs - 4.41 This is the kid I was talking about, he needs to grow a bit to be a major recruit but he's a burner and has a great deal of strength for his size. The biggest thing is he doesn't lose yards, most guys like him dance around this kid doesn't. He sees a hole and he jets it. Putting together his highlights I only remember 2 or 3 plays he lost yards on all year long.
Yeah we're all pretty excited about the Menard hire. He runs a spread so we're going to throw the ball for the first time in 20 years .

Mike Detillier said on HTV that there should be as many as 15 kids in this game that should sign somewhere. I think you'll see a few kids signing with smaller state schools and a bunch signing signing with JUCO's because of grades.

HLB should be getting better. They just hired Jack Phillips Jr. as their new head coach. He played in the nfl, coached in college, coached high school, coached arena football and his dad was the long time head coach of those really good Carver teams before Katrina. I think he's a great fit for HLB, he's who I was hoping CL would hire 2 years ago when we hired Callahan. I think he'll bring alot excitement to the program and get a bunch more kids to come out to play.

Oliver is a wr, grades are bad and so is his attitude. Pretty good wr but he'll probably go juco. Don't expect him to last long

I remember this Wesley from the SL/CL game this year. His first carry was like 50 yards and he had some good run the rest of the game there after. But as you say, it's hard to run when you don't throw.
I know how you feel about getting a coach who will throw the ball. It certainly made SL games at least bearable until they found success. Man was the wing-t painful to watch.
Personally, I think CL is the best set up to have the greatest success. As for as the parish goes, it is situated to where he has the right "mix" of kids in the parish.
I am a SL grad but my eye is on CL just as much due to that's the attendance zone I live in.
And then there's this new school... Convant Christian. Didn't they play ball this year but not under LHSAA? Correct me if I am wrong but didn't they win a good bit? Anyone?

Yes, CCA did win some games this year but they lost alot of seniors off that team at key positions. Although they do have some talent returning. They have fed off of HLB's recent downslide and have some really talented kids there; just don't know about how "deep" they will be.
