Not really an SECr topic (they have it on page 1 if you wanna troll however) since this is about Saban and NFL but I found this interesting.

quote:

“We chose Drew Brees,” Saban told Dan Le Batard of 790 The Ticket in Miami. “I’ve never ever talked about this publicly. . . . That’s the guy we made the first offer to.”

Saban said that Brees failed the physical after Brees and the Dolphins had agreed to terms. Brees had suffered a shoulder injury during the final game of the 2005 regular season.

I don't think Saban "failed" in NFL as he was only 2 games under .500 and the Dolphins have been horrible since even with Jimmy Johnson they were nothing special.
Some speculation is Saban is using this to possibly get another NFL gig (I doubt considering his age) but could use it as a pay raise.

Saban failed. He should go to the cowboys to redeem himself.

The man literally said he doesn't want to leave, and his wife literally said she won't leave. What more do you people need to realize that he isn't leaving. He will continue to make your fall seasons a living hell for years to come.

A pay raise? You know what Coach Saban has to do if he wants a pay raise?

He calls Mal and says, "Mal, I want a pay raise."

That's it. There's nothing else. There's no negotiation. There's no back room deals. There's no putting his name out there.

He says he wants a damn raise and he gets a raise.

For frick's sake, he's been to 3 championship games in 4 seasons. He is Jimmy Sexton's best and easiest client. He's a fricking atm for Sexton.

I don't think this thread needs to be on 3 different boards...but that's just my opinion

Each board is different, SEC rant has opinions similar to that Bama fan, they don't make any rationale sense....

MSB posters are more level headed with greater insight on topics for the most part, although idiots like that show up and comment without ever reading a word

Saban was a clown in the NFL. A terrible coach. He was afraid to go in his own locker room.

Players and coaches had zero respect for him. Anyone that doubts this needs to find that special on 10 worst college to pro coaches.

It's like your dense. The tornado softened him up and attached him to Tuscaloosa, and his wife said she won't leave.
