Who do you think the staff wants to fill in the last spots with? Basicly who are the highest 5 on their list.
From what I gather we have 5 spots and we are chasing may big fish.
I would assume (from who we seem to still be looking at) we are looking for 2 DB, 2 DL, + 1 misc.... so who are these (in the staff's mind, not yours)..... What yall think?

My vote (from all the swirling info), staff would like:
DBs: Willis, Carter (I think they want another S, otherwise Burns would be next)
DL: Nkemdiche, other unnamed at this time (Bain is the follow-up and from their interest, it seems they are not holding their breath on the previous 2)
Misc: It would seem to be Gardner or DB, DL
Just MHO

I have heard we are going to 27 and we have 24 with Avery and Fehoko. I'm sure the would make room for Robert N. and Priest Willis if they were wanting in.

coaches may not go full 29. Pretty simple.
Im thinking they are looking for 3. Others may creep in if we have defections or grade issues.
Beckwith
Willis
Bain
leaves room if some other high profile guys decide to switch commitments to LSU.

Seems like almost everyone the staff is chasing is somewhat of a long shot at this point except for Beckwith and Bain and they are 50/50...am i interpreting things accurately? there is a lot of unwarranted optimism on this board...anyone got a realistic feel of our chances to fill this class?

We are looking good with these 3 right now. Bama TE commit Josh McNeil was really blown away by his visit to Baton Rouge. He just became a real possibility.

The staff is 100% saving one for Beckwith.

Beckwith
Bain
Willis
Those are the ideal finish. The Carter kid or McNeil(not gonna qualify most likely so don't get your hopes up) could sneak in as a 4th guy. Anyone else would have to be a guy that we just can't turn down or if we lose someone currently committed. The possible grade casulties could factor in as well but we will not know anything on that front until right before signing day or on it when we see which faxes don't come in.
If we miss on Willis then we'll go balls out for another S type but it's anyone's guess who that would be. I don't see the Carter kid flipping.
I think the 1-2 spots we're leaving open are with a plan in place. That plan is likely a fluid one, going back and forth between leaving more available slots for next year, leaving some play room for the Spring or Summer with a guy like Courtney Gardner and with the staff not knowing exactly how many will leave through attrition. They have a good idea on that but there could always be a guy stay that was expected to leave or vice versa. Always good to have some wiggle room in case something unexpected happens or a need comes up that wasn't previously thought to be one.

got bain on board guys.
Beckwith
Willis
They want beckwith bad. Thats why riley was offered grey shirt. Beckwith would still be lone olb in this class.
If we finish with these two it will be another class that shores up the future for LSU. Beckwith will prob end up being a pass rusher for us and i love the fact willis could play cb or safety.

Yeah i think the staff did an excellent job this year at recruiting. Getting guys in early, dont want to get burned like last year. Also leaving a lil room to move in case we do flip a kid or just so we dont end up short on schollys and have to ask someone to greyshirt if everyone does qualify.

not 3 spots we got 5 spots man

I don't know what changed, but that's why Duke was offered a grey shirt.

Agree dgnx6. I have only had one major complaint with the staff this year(quite a few minor ones but I digress) and that is the RB/Adam Taylor situation. The pure numbers situation has been handled perfectly imo. Les is a great adjuster to his experiences and last year taught him and the staff how they needed to better mange the commitments, prospects and overall numbers.

Bain DT
Willis DB
Kendell Beckwith LB/DE
These are the three that are set in stone with Willis or Beckwith not done deals.
Robert Nkemdiche DE
Reuben Foster LB
Artie Burns DB
Tahaan Goodman DB
Eddie Vanderdoes DE/DT
While all of these recruits are relatively longshots the staff hav left room for them.
Riley and Carter both being greyshirted were great moves IMO.
Josh McNeil TE
Tim Williams DE
Gardner WR
Are wildcards that could all or none be tigers for various reasons.
IMHO
