If franklin can win the bowl game this year and get to 9 wins and next year he could win around 8-9 games again, do you think programs such as texas or usc that could have openings in 2014 would make a serious run, and how successful do u think he would be at a huge program.

IMO Franklin could be a candidate for SCe next year after Spurrier retires.

Anybody who can win 8-9 games at Vandy, especially if he can do it in consecutive seasons could be the HC anywhere in college football.

theres alot to like about the guy. i dig the guy's moxie. but i would have some reservations about giving a guy with only 3 years of head coaching experience a cadillac job like UT or SC. i always wonder how a coach will handle the transition from a vandy or northwestern(pat fitz's name always comes up) type school-- where there arent any expectations for winning, where its very academic and highbrow, where you get really smart, dedicated 4-5 year players (albeit not as athletic), to a pressure cooker type job in the top half of the SEC or UT or SC where its win at all costs, win quickly and consistently, guys are more talented, but usually not as collectively smart, leave early for the NFL, dont want to redshirt, off the field troubles, and the fish bowl environment of such a high profile job. obviously many coaches have made the leap to big time coaching jobs successfully. i think franklin is a rising star. but im not sure its the slam dunk everyone seems to think it will be. time will tell. i'll say this-- you could do alot worse than james franklin.

I like him, but I think USC should go for a more high-profile guy. USC is a super desirable job, and I wonder if they can pull in a Kevin Sumlin or someone like that. I think Jeff Fisher will stay in the NFL and Chip kelly would only leave Oregon for a pro job. And I bet Bob Stoops will retire in Norman. Any interest in Mike Riley? However, they could do a lot worse than Franklin (like right now).

My bad guys..I was thinking about Tony Franklin the spread offensive "guru" that AU hired one year and got fired after a few games. James Frnklin the current HC at Vandy would be a great fit at any BCS type school...sorry for being a gump and going brain dead.
