During last year's draft there was a shitload of debate about Lillard. The guy's stats increased every year, and he was awesome at the combine. But still people questioned him because of the conference he was in. They also questioned him because they said he scored at will and did not get his teammates involved.

He has turned into a great selection and the current frontrunner for ROY (I think this statement is currently accurate, but will drastically change once Davis stays on the court for any length of time).

Anyway, I think this year's "Lillard" could be CJ McCollum.

He is at a small school (Lehigh) and is currently dominating competition.

Lillard: 6'2" 185 his last year in college.
McCollum: 6;3" 190

Here are his stats this year so far:

McCollum...................Lillard
31.9 Minutes PG............34.5
24.9 PPG...................24.5
.509 FG%...................46.7
.519 3FG%..................40.9
5.4 RPG....................4.0
3.1 APG....................5.0
1.5 SPG....................1.5
82.8 FT%...................88.7

Obviously, that is a comparison to Lillard's entire Senior season compared to McCollum's so far.

Those stats have gone up virtually every year. And yes, his 3point FG percentage is higher than his regular. That's on 52 3 point shots this season.

He is a 4 year player like Lillard, so he will come into the league with much more maturity than the one and done guys. He will be a year older as a rookie than Austin Rivers will be in his second year in the league.

And unlike Lillard, he HAS played against top competition...in last year's NCAA tournament where his team played Austin Rivers' Duke team...and won. He drastically outplayed Rivers in that game.

He is moving up the boards and NBADraft.net currently has him in their top 10.

He is definitely a guy to keep an eye out for if we are in the lottery.

McCollum is a baller. I joined the CJ McCollum bandwagon a week or so ago. Everyone else jump on while there's room!!

I'd be down with getting him, but we need a SF much more at this point. If we can't get Shabazz or Poythress then I'm down with McCollum. I'll have to start watching these guys play soon like I did with T Rob and Davis.

I prefer to get a PG in FA/Trade and a SF in the draft.

But I'm throwing out prospects here.

I haven't seen much of Shabazz or Poythress but based on what I've heard I'd rather them too. But this is definitely a guy I'd be fine with getting. He just has that "it" factor

Most scouts believe he is more of a shooting guard that plays one bc of his size. Not sure that's what our team needs since we just drafted Rivers. Not saying he won't be a great player. Lillard has come back down to earth a bit recently as well. We can't really look towards the draft until we know more about Gordon anyway. Very weak draft class as of now.

Lillard will be the next Darren Collison when it's all said and done.

I also don't think McCollum is a 1, much like Rivers.

Doug is projected to be a PF. Useless for our loaded front court.

Smith, Anderson, AD, and Lance. That is a lot of "power forwards"

Could Doug cover any elite SF? Don't think so.

SF is a bigger need IMO. Alex Poythress is who I really want.

this

Hornets can always try and trade up for another pick if they want McCollum

The more I watch Shabazz, I think he is more of a SF than a shooting guard like scouts are reporting. We need someone with offensive game who can play defense not the other way around. Poythress is a tweener but I would be happy with him too I guess.

Poythress is the same postionless SF/PF tweener that gets drafted high every year and never works out. Too small to bang with NBA PFs, not nearly skilled enough to play on the wing. Typical measurements guy.
