You can see them from miles away, you know all the food is there and the fish have no choice. It's almost like they're penned in there. You just pull up and catch whatever you want. That's not fishing that's just catching. Bad for the sport IMO.

Now I do have a lot of respect for the Asian commercial fisherman out there hand lining it

at least saltwater is fair chase
don't get me started on all those freshwater pond/lake fisherman catching those captive fish using bait.
baiting should be illegal.

If the feds keep seasons artificially short to increase fish numbers is it "real" fishing in these overpopulated areas...

It's real to me. I like the experience of CATCHING. On another note, I do also enjoy the thrill of locating fish. But sometimes I just want to KNOW I'm gonna catch. Each to there own.
