yeah, no shite right?

hopefully we will get that second round pick back though... I'm not counting on it but there is always a chance that it could happen. I think its the least Goodell could do after that dump he took on our team.

I think this is the ONE thing the NFL can do to show everyone how great they really are. Kind too.
I think we get it back.

Considering the overall talent (or lack thereof) on this defense, I think it would be a rash decision to fire him.

The D has turned the corner the past 3 games. The personal is atrocious for the most part.

Special teams fricked us over BAD yesterday!!!!!!!

Convince me you have watched every game of the season start to finish.

The defense has improved every game, the half time adjustments have been great, the rookie talent is progressing well, the veterans are settling in. Not to mention the first half of the season when he didnt have a LB coach, a HC, or the 2 biggest and most respected leaders on the team.

watch the past 3 games.

we have gotten pressure, turn overs, and amazing goal line stands. you might say scores and stats say another story. a defense will look bad on paper when your offense is throwing at least 3 picks and fumbles a game and special teams allow the opponent to start at the 50.

we had a lot of learning curves in the beginning. granted. but come on, do you really think we are still that defense? spags has a great system, and its coming together. give him a normal off season with his guys and Payton. we will have a reliable defense next year.

I haven't been impressed by him yet. And I don't know if well improve by leaps and bounds next year. Yes we've improved, but we improved from fuctard terrible of historic performances to sub par ( the Giants scored 45 points on us on offense yesterday).

Gregg Williams had these same players (minus Lofton/Bunkley plus Porter) and we were not half as bad.

I just can't believe that any player in the NFL is as bad as our defensive players are this year.

Needs a couple of years to get 'his' type of players to run 'his' defense, you can't base anything off one year...

dude, come on. where did they start on most of their drives? how many turn overs did they get that again started the offense in field goal range?

this is exactly what im talking about. no one is looking at the defense objectively. they did well. last game, they got completely fricked over by both offense and special teams. to judge them on that is unfair. yet people ignore the turn over and pressure they got. give me a break.

Williams' blitz 65% of the time defense hid the weaknesses this defense really had. It was a gimmick defense that worked well enough to win a Super Bowl. It out immediate pressure on QBs forcing bad passes and creating turnovers. It got figured out.

Now we're moving towards a legitimate defensive scheme and the players aren't used to it. We have the get a pass rush from our front 4 which we didn't do the first several weeks. Spags has made adjustments and those are working. The defense hasn't lost the last three games for us. The defense gave up yards but kept points off the board and gave the opportunity for the offense to win the game. The offense hasn't taken a single one of the opportunities the past three weeks.

not to mention they put the first points on the board... and then the offense finally decides to put one in the endzone but we were trailing 35-13 at the time. So we score, its 35-20. Then the defense gets another turnover, the offense does its job and the lead is cut to 35-27. That was as good as it got the whole game...

we're just not playing well as a team right now. Just hope we can close out this year with a three game win streak. I hope like hell we stop this trend where we split the season series with the Bucs. That needs to end on Sunday, I'll be over at the Dome yelling like mad

Edit: and the defense will continue to get the brunt of blame no matter what. They did have that terrible start so that is what most fans(casual fans) will come on here and bitch about.

Half of these assholes let ESPN think for them and get caught up in statistics game... its such a lazy way to view things.

Without question he is. All things considered, I think he's done a great job with the defense, and next season we'll see what a Spag's defense is all about.

Players fault:

If Williams blitzed to hide the players insufficiencies as suggested, then Spags is a bad DC for just letting bad players play in a bad scheme. No matter what he's trying to do. He should know the players are bad and work around it.

Offenses fault:

Our offense has been in a rut the past few weeks. But what's the excuse for Jamal Charles, RGIII, Carolina, Turner and every other running back and QB slashing this defense all year? In the last game I will say Manning had a really good game and made some great passes that weren't on the DBs. But we dropped a bunch of balls and still missed a lot of tackles and couldn't get off the field. 45 points is inexcusable!

Refs fault:

C'mon man.

Goddell's fault:

I'll actually buy this a little. No Payton to help Spags and direct everyone is probably not helping Spags or the players.

I'm not totally biased against Spags and I hope it gets fixed and yes, we need some 'real' talent upgrades on defense. And there has been some improvement, but we aren't good. We give up too many yards, too many points, can't tackle, can't pressure the QB, can't cover and can't take advantage of turnover opportunities to save our lives. It's a bad defense! Plain and simple.

Great retort
You suck at the Internet. I know Hoodoo and I have had this fight before. There has been improvement, just not enough for me to get excited about.

eta Spags is legit, though.
