| What is Tommy Tuberville's end game? (Posted on 12/9/12 at 8:06 am)
SEC/B1G head coaching position? Did Tennessee never reach out to him? Obviously he wanted out of TT but what are your thoughts on his ultimate goal?

Cincy has been a pipeline to better jobs than Texas Tech the last 10 years: Michigan State, Notre Dame and Tennessee. I guess he's hoping that train continues to run.

Be the coach that helps get Cincy to the ACC within 2-3 years.

I think this guy nailed it. And I can't stress enough how much Lubbock, TX sucks.

Tommy never intended to stay long at Tech. It was a stepping stone. He beat OU at home but lost some other close games that would have really launched him. Had they beat some other teams this year, he would have been a hot commodity. Had the headset incident not happened he might have stayed one more year. The fact is that he has a great relationship with AD at Cincy, the guy remembers working with Tommy when he was king of the hill at AU. Cincy is loaded with players and is returning talent next year. Tommy is too old to jump ship again. Believe it or not I think Tommy at his age wants to coach a few more years in a place that he has nothing to worry about. He can win at Cincy and may get a BCS bowl game their. If they get into the ACC he may think that is a conference he can get into the playoff in. The money is right the area is where his wife is from. It makes alot of sense to me.

He wants back in the SEC bad. Tennessee didn't contact him.

All valid points...if you figure in that he will be 60 after a season or two, I don't think he really will care (and neither will SEC AD's) about returning to the SEC.

His endgame is working at a place that doesn't view 7-5 as a fireable offense.

Reading Tech forums/media, they seem to still be enamored with Leach and gave Tubby a real hard time as soon as he was hired, and ever since. Thats why alot of them think he left.

Friend of mine is a TT booster, and they never warmed up to the guy. He says they think he is half arse coaching, not putting a whole lot of effort into it.

He was going to lose Brown either way after this season, and their defense was awful. He would likely have been fired after next year anyway. Going to Cincy gives him 3-4 more years he likely would not have had at Tech. I think his end game was 3-4 more years of employment anywhere.
