I'm so lucky to be a white American male? I know he didn't mean anything by it, and I'm pretty sure I understand what he was trying to say, but did anyone else think it was an uncomfortable moment?

Yeah it was , but i think he ment that he has alot more oppertunites. It would be a waste not to take full advantage. Everything he said was true.

Nothing wrong with what he said, you should be proud of who you are. It's unfortunate that people look to make something out of this because he's white. Would it be a big deal if he were black or Hispanic? I say, NO!

Well... he sort of made a little comment about "these guys," referencing the finalists, coming from nothing and not having the same opportunities he had. I was like... OK, I know he's not going where I think he's going. And then, BOOM, "I'm just so privileged to be a white, American male."
Then I was scanning the boards to see if someone else would say something.

ok, i didn't see/hear the comment:

was saying that

or
did it sound clearly like "i'm better because i'm white"?
