I know The Trolling Motor Shop sells them in Baton Rouge but has anyone bought them online for a better price and were pleased with it? Also I see they also sell "fishing hot spots" chips online for salt water has anyone purchased these? TIA

They sell them all over the internet. I know basspro and cabela's sells them both in store and online. I use Lake insight, but never fishing hot spots.

I bought the navionics marine and lakes for louisiana. I chose it because it has both salt and fresh and focuses on La....I've been impressed so far

How do you know if the unit is actually using the card? Mine has one, but I know doodly-squat about it.

You have to go into your menu and select the card. If not it will just continue to use the factory default map

Right, but is it obvious when it's using one vs the other?

It should be, when using the navonics card, you should have contours on your map. If you are on the internal gps, there will only be an outline of the lake. At least thats how mine is anyway.

Yay! Mine is working. Well, when the unit turns on. I have had some trips where it won't turn on at all. I probaly need re-wiring of the entire deal.

Some Eagle chart plotter. Can't recall the model. It's probably from 2006 or so.

I have an Eagle Fishelite 460, this year started having similar problems. Wouldnt always turn on, other times it would turn on and it was like one of the buttons was stuck down, so it just beeped at me all G'damn day. Then GPS module would not respond. It is with Eagle/ Lowrance now for repairs. Probably about the same age as yours, FWIW. I tried everything prior to sending it off, a buddy has the same unit, I even tried it on his boat, same problems. So you might be about to have some problems with yours.

Mine is almost definitely current. I can see a slight, I mean SLIGHT, flash when it's doing this. I have also had it shut off when starting the engine. That tells me drop in voltage, right? I suspect the contacts, but could be the acc. switch itself.

It happens often with all models. I had to send back my hummingbird SI because it would just randomly turn off or just stop reading the transducer. Haven't had any problems with my new HDS yet, but it's to new to know.

That is what I would assume, at least a first assumption.

When mine turns on, it works perfectly. I just can't count on it turning on.

Lats time I was at TB, it would not turn on. Rained. Then it turned on

Is it wired to a power/accessory switch? If it is the switch can be bad and it's the cheapest place to start narrowing it down.

Yes, and I do need to investigate that switch.

TB is a magnet for something on my boat to break/ quit working.
TM damn near came off making a run from S. State Park to Inidan Mounds, rod straps broke sending 6+/- combos bouncing around on the front deck at WOT, carb float stuck (nothing but a gerber in the boat at the time), and now that I think about it, pretty sure TB was the first place my Eagle started messing up. Just cant help myself though, going back in a couple weeks.
