Anyone do this? I've seen some good recipes for crockpot oatmeal that will cook overnight, ready to eat in the morning. But 6-8 hours seems like a lot for oatmeal, even on low. Would it burn?

Note...I do not personally harvest my oats. I buy them at the store.

I've seen the recipe on Pinterest and very interested. However I just microwave oatmeal and add fruit to it. It's awesome and quick

this is for steel cut oats probably because they need to cook longer.

i think the bottom would burn if you didnt put enough water in it and left it on high.

i just boil water in my tea pot and soak the oats in boiling water right before i go to bed. then i heat the pan up in the morning. they have always been cooked enough for my liking. you can add whatever you want.

only time ive done them in a crock pot is when we had a shite ton of people come over for a parade party. it was easier to keep them warm in the crock pot.

this is how the grandparents would prep breakfast when I live with them. It was good and creamy too. I'd always get yelled at for over butter and sugaring them.

my friends tell me i eat like an old lady.

i cook roast and chickens or veggies in the oven and a crock pot of beans or lentils once a week.

between the two meals, and oatmeal, i can eat all week for 20-30 bucks.

it allows me to splurge on dining out.

I mix steel cut oats and water in 2 single serving oven-proof bowls/ramekins and put them in my slow cooker. The large, oval cookers are large enough for this. Then, I pour about an inch of water in the bottom of the crock and cook on low overnight. In essence you are creating a steam bath. I can add toppings and a little milk the next morning.
