Hart and the Haslams have apparently had some disagreements throughout the search about the control aspect of the search. Haslams have let Hart run the show with Gundy, Strong, etc. but tonight's news has the big boosters riled up and wanting to take over control.
John Brice of VolQuest said that if Hart does not have the authority to make the decision on who is hired he has told people he may resign once a coach is announced.
Hubbs said there are conversations ongoing tonight about this.

He is an ego-maniac.
Unless he pulls something out of his ass, I don't see much chance he survives (or the chancellor of the university).
If a good hire is pulled out of our arse it will most likely be the doing of Haslam and Co. anyway.

I'm seeing now that the best thing we ever did was implode the local Good Ole Boy network when Nutt and Frank Broyles were put out to pasture.

He was the associate AD at Bama. Ran the day-to-day ops there.
Was mostly brought in to consolidate the mens and womens ADs and clean up Hamilton's financial mess. Has done a decent job there, but has royally fricked this search up.

Curious why the perception that he is botching this? If they are offering shite loads of money and keep getting turned down it's obviously not a very attractive job. How is it his fault? Did he run Fulmer, hire Kiffin, and hire Dooley?

If you believe some Tennessee people, Hart didn't want Gruden. Hart's people were leaking Gruden wasn't interested while big boosters were putting out information that Gruden was interested under the right circumstances.
Now he is screwing it up because he slow played Strong, who was considered the floor for a new hire, while trying to get Gundy from OSU.
