Phil summed it up something like this on one of his videos, "Terry went for the bucks and I went for the ducks"

Phil still getting paid w/o dealing with NFL injuries. I'd say he made the right decision.

During their family football game Phil played QB for one team.It only showed him throw one pass but it was a 45 yd tight spiral.

He went to try out for the Redskins one year. They had him doing some drills and some ducks flew over the practice field. He stopped and watched them until they went out of sight, turned to the coaches and said "This is not for me. Thanks guys but I don't think i want to do this." Walked off the field right then.

Truth. At least that is what he told us in a class I had. He came as a guest speaker when I was in college at LA Tech about 12 years ago and talked about how he started his business. Showed us all of his different calls and what calls made him a millionaire. Told the story about the Redskins that day.

Is he related to Scotty Robertson, the former Tech basketball coach?

never seen the show, but I'd imagine his status as a good QB has become more of an urban legend than anything. I highly doubt had he stuck around and played he would have had the career of a HOF QB like terry bradshaw

now its just an easy headline for the show "hmmmm dat man loved huntin so much he done give up a football career for it. Yessir"

It's like when some sports star has a younger brother, everyone says "he's so much better than (older brother)"

Or the rumor that Cooper Manning was the most talented out of them all. Doubt he was more talented than Peyton at anything.

He wasn't
The only thing cooper had going for him is he is smaller than his brothers and a good bit faster.

If he would have played for the Steelers he could have.

Yeah, some know-it-all will always chime in with that

I didn't know this, but I don't hunt, don't watch "reality" TV and don't particularly care about who played QB for LATech a million years ago.

That's definitely got to be a first when it comes to reasons for quitting a team though.

His status as a QB @ Tech was that he played ahead of Bradshaw. All that really says Bradshaw probably hadn't developed yet and Phil probably peaked as a player.

Bert Jones didn't exactly catch on for a couple of years himself.
