He's not interested in being a head coach or someone would have got him by now.

Chavis turning down the HC job at his alma mater would not be surprising with how this search has gone.

I love Chavis but he isn't a head coach. He's a coordinator all the way.

He is not coming back unless Fulmer is the head coach, that is not happening, so, no.

If I was dave hart I would make him tell me no. I mean the draw of his alma mater might be enough for him to try. I know he said he doesn't want to be HC. But it would probably be one of the best options left for tenn at this point. I mean he's recruited for them still has a lot of ties around there.

He's said many times he doesn't have a desire to be a head coach. He hates recruiting and all the BS

Earlier tonight on 102.5 in Nashville they were talking with David Climer (sp?) I think he's the beat writer for the paper here. He said that Fulmer has made it known to certain higher ups that he'd take the job and thinks he could get a really good staff together. Two names that he specifically mentioned were Chavis and Tee Martin.

He kind of made it sound that this would be a last ditch effort once they decide to quit throwing insane money offers to basically unproven coaches.

Doubt it happens.

that would be a pretty tough decision for chavis.

he's an extremely loyal guy and i'm sure he doesn't want to run out on les and his players. i think that was one of the main reasons he stayed in 09 when uga came after him. he's also making some damn good money for a dc.

but this decision will not be about the cash.

him and fulmer are long time friends. i think this would be the only scenario he would leave LSU for. if phil calls i think chavis is gone. he will feel terrible about it but i just don't think he can tell phil and tennessee no.

you would be a joke as an AD. i'm not saying chavis may return to ut as a DC one day if the situation were just right but not as a HC. he doesn't want to be a HC and it would probably ruin his life by removing all the fun out of it. hell, lsu is paying him a million a year to do a job he loves at a school he now loves also. he's be crazy to give hc a try and he'd be crazy to take over at the shitstorm that is ut right now.

If Chavis did leave I might give Ron Cooper a call.
