I am seeing a lot of geese. If i had more decoys & a caller, it would be game over...

Give me more than a 10 hr notice and I can help a brother out. It takes me a few hrs just to move them sky carp decoys out of the shed.

Goose season is open? I must have read the regs wrong and thought it was the split in both the East and Coastal Zones.

I went with Smoke last week, let me see if I remember correctly. About 9k geese to the north, another 5k to the SE, and lastly a small flock of 3-4K to SW. We were sitting in the middle of a triangle of large concentrations. A few hundy shells and rags, fog and electonic caller and you'd need a flatbed to haul them out of the field.

Well I'm back home from the recon mission. As ST described, there is a shite ton of geese out there. I had a bunch of birds fly over me but none were low enough to pop a shot at. I only had 6 white trash bags out in the corner of the field. A big white decoy spread & a calling machine would prolly do the trick. I'm ready to roll for tomorrow. We can put deeks out this afternoon & hunt this evening & again tomorrow morning or just put them out in the morning. Whatever you guys wanna do. The birds are definitely in the area.

I would argue that point with you. You need a LOT of white decoys (rags or shells) to decoy snow geese, unless you just plan on pass shooting.

I did this for years....Many years we tried setting out ~200 rags/shells with very little produced. Got some advice from a very experience snow goose guide and bumped the number up to about 700 rags, not one shell. Birds fell from the sky into the spread.

I know you said you have birds in the area, but even if they're on your land, walking in will scare them off. You need a large spread to pull them back down. Whe they move, they'll settle where they see other birds, and not just 15-20 of them. They'll be looking for another large number to hook up with.

Putting out a big spread isn't easy for a small crew, but with 5-6 guys willing to spend 30-45 minutes each setting out 100-150 rags each, it isn't bad. It isn't as much work as carrying out 80-100 snow geese either.

I'd be curious to know which property you're hunting also. Your description of the locations sounds very familiar....VERY!

If we can round up a bunch of rags or decoys & an electronic caller, then hell yes we can go. We are just pissing in the wind unless we can cover the field with decoys & rags though. Supposed to be foggy in the morning so it should be good.
