He obviously has his work cut out for him, but with A&M in the SEC, recruiting Texas should get easier for both Arkansas and LSU.

I keep reading this over and over. Unless you were being sarcastic, it makes no sense. LSU and Arky's biggest recruiting tool in Texas was "play for us and you'll be playing the SEC, top NCAA conference, but still be close to home". Now aTm says "you can play in the SEC and still be in Texas".

I disagree Texas will be easy to recruit, but the state will have enough talent to go around.

There is a lot of talent on Texas and its a big state hooked on HS Football as well. I guess my point is that aTm being in the SEC enhances it's recruiting and probably pushes a few recruits (probably higher rated ones) that way that may have otherwise chosen LSU or Arky in order to get the exposure of the SEC. I think aTmbeing in the SEC makes Texas harder to recruit, though not necessarily hard, due to the large talent pool as you stated

this....bigtime. the SEC flanked us, recruiting wise, for a reason and a purpose. anything that weakens us makes bama that much stronger. the upside is that the texas kids we lose to atm will probably be replaced by north louisiana talent and that will be a wash or plus for LSU.

I don't know if that is completely true. Will it be more difficult for us to get players? Clearly it will with Texas A&M, but Miles is a great recruiter. There may be an SEC team in Texas, but LSU can still go grab some top notch talent. I think we can get commitments easily over Texas and TCU if we want the athlete. We will probably have to go head to head with A&M on some big names, but I like our chances putting Miles against Sumlin. Have you seen Sumlin talk at a presser? Poor dude is shell shocked and nervous as hell. Les is loose and is fun. If you had 2 schools come visit and one coach is struggling to tell you why he is there or a fun guy who has proven over an 8 year stretch to win..... hard to say no to Les.

Les has Better players...much better team speed.

Coaches are quite similar both design and play Big 10 Football.

correct. we currently have a top 5 recruiting class with 0 commits from Texas.

Eh, Malzahn doesn't scare me without Cam. It is like the Washington Nationals without Stratsberg, Mac Brown without Vince Young or Colt McCoy, or Oregon in 2007 without Dennis Dixon.

But he coached in the Big 10, it isn't like a great coach in the SEC has ever come from there. Wait a minute.... I think I know of a guy from Michigan State, I can't get his name out.

The hire is similar to Trent Johnson for LSU basketball. Even if he has Saban like skills his job is twenty times harder than what Saban had at LSU. He doesn't have talent in his backyard and NW Arkansas is hard sell. The SEC is way more difficult than it was in 2000. Arkansas best option was Art Briles as far as being able to compete like they did with Petrino.
