Searched my apartment up and down and can't find either, guessing my brother stole them. Any way, my roommate has some GT85 that he uses on his bike, can I use this to clean my gun or would it be an awful idea?

I'm not familiar w/ GT85, but, like Rem Oil, it look like it's just a lubricant. LINK / I use various lubricants to lubricate and protect the metal surfaces, but not for cleaning. If you're looking for a single product to "clean, lubricate and protect", tow such products I use are Break-Free CLP or Eze-Ox.
What part of your gun are you cleaning? If your cleaning the bore, toothpaste is actually not too bad as it's a mild abrasive. If you use toothpaste, I'd use some dry patches and wet patches (lubricant would be ok) to clean the abrasive out of the bore.

CLP is the tits.
I use an old toothbrush and a copper wire brush to clean up my handguns. The toothbrush is for the mild dirty surfaces and the wire brush is for the breech face, feed ramp, and other very dirty portions.
For the bore, I use a copper brush and regular jag on a cleaning rod. I don't always clean the barrels that well on my pistols though. If you have a bore snake, it works fine for quick cleanups. Every few 1000 rounds I like to run some solvent down my barrel though.

Just trying to knock some of the gunk and grit out of the chamber, it's a Beretta Xtrema 2 fwiw. Do the two products that you mentioned do any damage to synthetic finishes? Just curious because gun scrubber ate some of the finish off of my X1

I've used Break-Free CLP and Eezox on a number of different gun finishes, including blued, stainless steel, polymer (both frames and stocks) and wooden, and have never had any problems. I'm looking at the labeling on Eezox right now and don't see any warnings regarding finishes.

CLP is fine - I have used it on my extremas for 6+ yrs no finish issues
