| To those who complain about a hard schedule (Posted on 12/3/12 at 1:40 pm)
I am really beginning to think some of my fellow LSU fans are bipolar. If I recall, this is the same fanbase that complained about LSU scheduling to many boring cupcake games earlier this year so lots of you made your way to the exits after halftime. So I ask you, what do you as a fanbase want? More exciting SEC games that are fun to watch to the end or boring cupcake games? As far as complaining about the Bama bias, while some of that may be true and I do realize that Bama has been only called for a holding penalty once since 1977,but PLEASE STOP COMPLAINING, enjoy the games and go out and support LSU

I am HAPPY with our tough schedule.. I am only upset that Bama has an easy schedule in comparison.

Fans will bitch, not show up, and leave early. But it's clear that the easiest path to a title is playing one or two big names and a bunch of nobodies.

To all those who start threads replying to all those who say something they disagree with.....why not just argue your point directly to the person that you disagree with insetad of starting a new thread every time you disagree with someone?

Why are LSU fans so worried about Bama, if LSU takes care of business on the field, its a non issue.

This, I'm not complaining that we play big games, Just ridiculous that other teams get rewarded for playing nobodies ie Bama and Georgia. While USCe, UF, and LSU got shite on by the SEC scheduling.

Why phrase it like that, unless you don't want an honest answer? That's actually two separate issues. Our OOC schedule is one topic for conversation...our conference schedule another. OOC is simply a harder thing to accomplish...tons of teams, moving conference affiliations, home & home series requirements, etc. As much as we may enjoy seeing marquee type home & home series every season, those are just tough to come by. Even so, it would be nice to bring in some mid-major as opposed to bottom dwellers...though we did both this year in hosting UW and Towson. But this is really a separate issue... As for our conference schedule, there is nothing inherently weak about expecting our closest conference rival to have to play a similarly difficult schedule as we do. To allow them to consistently get the easier ride because we fear being called chicken if we don't run the toughest gauntlet is just foolish. It may be true that BAMA had a significantly easier SEC slate than LSU did this year...but until they or the media give a crap they may very likely be hoisting their 3rd flag in 4 season, while we tout our strength of schedule title.

Because the college game is not the NFL game, where you can be a mediocre team all season long, get hot, and win the super Bowl by virtue of a hot streak at the end like the Giants have done twice. You have to nearly win 'em all. As such, it's perfectly clear that a program with an easier slate has an easier time getting to the biggest games...the SECCG and the BCSNCG. If that's the goal, than wanting an equitable schedule ought to be your goal. If it's not, and simply seeing entertaining football is more your thing, than that's ok too. But to suggest we ought to relish in playing the toughest opponents AND expect to play in the SECCG and BCSNCG while our rivals take the easier road is just crazy talk.

GeauxTigerTM "As for our conference schedule, there is nothing inherently weak about expecting our closest conference rival to have to play a similarly difficult schedule as we do" This is silly. Alabama just recently rotated out of Florida and S. Carolina as our cross-division games, and we just came out of a run through 2006 by Tennessee where they beat Alabama 11 out of 13 times. We've scheduled marque OOC games annually since Saban's been there (FSU, Penn St., Clemson, Va Tech, Michigan). The schedules even out over time as the program's strength rise/fall over time (see Auburn vs. Georgia). With the SEC championship game, Alabama ended up playing 3 of the top 4 teams in the league and finishes with the 3rd hardest schedule in the nation this year (LINK )

Screw alabama and the sec a-hole that come up with the unfair schedules. Rotating all out of division opponents is the only fair way to do it... yet we don't. If you want X to be your permanent opponent then get in the same division with them. SEC had a great opportunity to make the schedules fair and screw it up again. It doesn't matter one tiny bit if you think playing Florida is an advantage to LSU or a disadvantage. If it is an advantage to us then that means it is a disadvantage for others... or for Florida. Either way someone is getting the shaft. Why not just make it fair for all the teams? Is that to much to ask for? Apparently it is!

If LSU beats them this year then Bama isn't going to the NCG. Yes, the scheduling sucks, but Florida isn't always good (see the last two years) and Tennessee won't be terrible forever, and is historically one of the very best programs in the SEC. The one constant factor is that LSU has their chance to beat Bama on the field every year, and when we don't we can't complain about their favorable scheduling because they still won the game that counts.

Until BAMA quits forcing the permanent opponent system onto the SEC, I'd kindly ask you to hush. The 3rd Saturday in October is important to you guys now for more than tradition...because it's almost a sure win. Tell any other story to the tourists...

And some absolutely TERRIBLE OOC games. I don't care about your OOC..I care about what enables BAMA to have the inside track to Atlanta. Right now BAM and UGA are benefiting from LSU and UF beating each other senseless while you jackholes get UT and AU respectively.
quote:

And it took you until Saturday to do it. LSU had played UF, BAMA, USCe and eaTme...and had we gotten to Atlanta we'd have added UGA. See the difference? We'd have played 5 of the Top 6.

Play all the tough games you want but don't expect to play in any kind of title game if your direct competitor doesn't play the same schedule. BTW, fans want better OOC opponents, SEC schedule should be fair.

Exactly. You shouldn't be at a clear competitive disadvantage when the season starts because of your schedule.

Who's arguing that?

Irrelevant. What's relevant is rotating the schedule so as to ensure equity. Programs rise and fall...why should ANY program (be it LSU, UF, BAMA, UGA, UT, etc) benefit from their permanent opponent falling on hard times, or be hurt because they're stuck for seasons on end with a beat when their biggest divisional rival gets a cupcake? Equal rotation is the only way to solve this.

This is only true is our only loss would be to BAMA. What if, like this year, we lose to BAMA and UF while they get to play east cake? Again, you're allowing yourself to accept an unequal schedule for fear of being called scared.

LSU and Florida played 4 of the other top 5 teams in the league without even playing the in SEC Championship game. Even with the SEC Championship game, neither Georgia nor Alabama played as many tough SEC opponents as LSU and Florida.

Let's take this point one step further. How often do we hear talking heads explain their pre-season rankings of teams based on the perceived toughness of the upcoming schedule? You hear it every year...so-and-so is a great team, but road trips to x and y and a visit from z pose too great a threat. Of course the schedule matters...it's one thing to say we're powerless to change our current state, why should we be so eager to roll over and be ok with it?
