I gotta be honest -- they probably deserve a trip this year more than Purdue or Minnesota do. (ignoring all the contractual conference tie-ins)
Georgia Tech is 6-7 and in a bowl. That's the real crock.

As I said on the other thread:

If you play a shite schedule and lose 3 of them, why the hell would this be the progression?

I'm just glad Iowa state made it in somewhere after getting knocked down...whew
But a rematch against Tulsa, who we already beat this year? Yawn.

He's changed his mind on this. I guess having this many people mock you and call for your job will cause a man to look for a scapegoat though.
He better watch out. Tech can re-hire little Dooley to do his job and Dykes' job if Dykes leaves for greener pastures.

Is it possible that La Tech could lose money on a trip to the Independence Bowl?
No

FYI, about the bowl payouts.... The way the WAC is set up, a bowl team is given about $300,000 for a bowl apearance with the remainder of the payout going to the conference. A WAC bowl (outside of BCS) results in the team being paid that amount no matter what the bowl pays. Sorry rule, but it is the WAC.

The problem with the Heart of Dallas bowl is they have tie ins with Big 10 and Big 12. There were enough teams from both conferences qualified even if OU went to BCS so Tech was never in the picture for that game.

which makes BVDVs reasoning sound all the more foolish.
the guy clearly doesnt follow CFB close enough to know how things work.

We were hearing the HOD wanted to trade Iowa St to Liberty for Tech.
Posted on 12/3/12 at 2:07 pm to T1
is that from your AD? His word is very suspect right now.

Earlier today, on Timmy B, VanDarthVader said that he, the WAC and C-USA officials had recieved "verbal assurances" from the Liberty Bowl that they were going to take Tech "no matter what happened in the games Saturday". He said Tech based thier decision on that then the Liberty Bowl backed out and by then the IBowl was booked.
Posted on 12/3/12 at 2:12 pm to DawgyDog
wouldn't CUSA then come out and back him on this?
if they were going to get taken no matter what why was an official invite never given?
if the Liberty didn't give Tech an invite then and there it seems pretty obvious they were waiting to get something else.

He never communicated anything with us the whole time. We were just pretty much reading tweets.
We didn't think they would send Iowa St to the Liberty because they had already played Tulsa this year. So the Liberty Bowl would need a team. But then NIU got the invite to the Orange Bowl and it pushed Iowa St to the Liberty anyway.

while Utah State and San Jose State are solid this year, the rest of the WAC is hot garbage.
and please dont try to pimp UTSA's 8-4 record.
