Why are Clemson and the Chick-fil-A so "low prestige"

(I'm not saying I disagree that they are that to an extent. I'm just trying to put my finger on it).

Clemson - has a decent history. Won the NC in the 80's or thereabout I think. Is it their propensity to choke in a lot of seasons? Their dull color scheme? The fact that they are ACC? Something else?

Chick-fil-A - Nic stadium. Good city. Decent time slot. Is it the payout? The fact that they are known primarily by a sponsor's name instead of mostly as the "peach bowl"? Something else?

Chicken bowl is on New Year's Eve when nobody will be watching college football. Cotton is on 1/4 and the only game that day.

But I like playing Clemson over Texas.

Don't think Clemson is "low-prestige" but Chick-fil-A sounds like playing at a mall food court. Taking the Peach Bowl name off the event was a dumb move.

It's because the loser of the SECCG in the past with records for other teams being similar go to peach. See 2005

Doesn't matter. The SEC splits the payouts to all the schools anyway.

The participating school gets a little more money. It's not a huge difference unless you're playing in a BCS Bowl.

Which we aren't, so the money argument is pointless.

Ever been to Atlanta? Also a great number of folks go to dinner and to parties who don't have a rooting interest, thus less exposure.

The SEC team gets screwed payout wise in the Chicken. You can beat the ACC team and still lose money.

THIS. I'm ok with it because the Peach Bowl is increasing. It's a bowl on the climb. In two years it will be one of the few bowls hosting the playoffs.

Cotton Bowl was a boring 10am kickoff game that most people only watched while flipping back and forth new years day. Last year they made an effort to really increase the bowl. Mostly due to the new stadium.

The Chick-fil-A bowl is not that bad, but it's at a bad time - New Year's Eve. That's self-explanatory.

If it was a day earlier it would be better.

I say that because the whole New Year's Day Bowl thing doesn't mean anything anymore. There are a million bowls now and we have bowls after New Year's that are terrible.

How about the HEART OF DALLAS BOWL on New Year's Day featuring the Big 10's #7 team? That will be great.

The Gator Bowl has been a pretty good bowl, but that is supposed to feature the SEC's 6th team while the Peach is supposed to feature the SEC's 5th team.

Then after the New Year, you have all the great bowls mixed in with the BBVA Compass Bowl on 1/5 and the GoDaddy.com Bowl on 1/6.

So things have changed.

Clemson would be a good opponent. LSU had a good year, but we squeaked by a terrible Arkansas team that was one play away and just got by a 6-6 Ole Miss team at home.

We probably just deserve a little better of a bowl considering our record.

CFA vs Clemson is a good bowl.

I'd prefer Cotton (more exposure, better date, more LSU fans in attendance), but it's not the end of the world if we play Clemson in Atlanta.

Cotton and CFA are both part of the new college football playoff. I actually like Atlanta as a destination better than DFW.

I wish it was still called Peach Bowl...i think that unjustly affects people's perception of CFA
