I bet if this wasn't on ESPN, you would either say how interesting the segment was or you wouldn't say anything at all.

They're doing something right...you care enough about them to start threads about them.

If you watch ESPN for anything other than live sporting event broadcasts, you are wasting your time.

Well, the NFL coverage (outside of the obsession with the Jets) isn't terrible. This is partly because the NFL's outcome each year is determined by a full-proof playoff system; whereas college football is manipulated by the media.

ESPN is one of the most successful businesses in the US, with a great model, mission, vision, etc. They are the best television and radio (media) success story ever. They are leaders in many areas of corporate culture and you watch their coverage, news, analysis, etc everyday. They hold countless focus group events, surveys, etc to ensure programming the public wants and their ratings and favorable public perception are the best in media. Their philanthropy includes giving 10's of millions a year to charity, including funding many causes that are important to children's health. You would give up your boyhood to work there. Attached is a link to their Human Resource and careers site...they employee thousands of very happy, well-treated people. If you have something going for you and have a degree, put in for a job there! LINK

I like the obsession with "the national football league". Earlier tom Jackson said "you give that to every NFL QB IN the national football league". Its like they have a quota on saying "the national football league"

They were a decent network. Their programming in terms of sports and those documentaries outsiders produce are top notch. But sports center and almost all of their announcers including people like Gruden suck balls. It's embarrassing to watch so much so that any chance I get and am able to synch them up I turn up the xm Sirius and kill the sound. Now after you do that for a while even listening to substandard people like Hawthorne and you find a game you can't synch close enough and you have to listen to the tv people you really notice the contrast and see just how bad they are.
