| 10% of a poor person's salary... (Posted on 12/1/12 at 11:02 pm)
Is that proportionally equivalent to 30-50% of a rich person's salary in terms of sacrifice?

Depends upon the needs of each. BTW, I believe in the progressive tax system, as well, but you'll have to flesh this out.

I absolute hate when someone says taking 10% from a poor person is a whole lot more than taking 10% from a rich person... its the same percentage idiots

Yeah but the point you're missing is that a 10% hit on a poor family might force them to skip a meal. Whereas a 10% hit on the rich might force them to down size from a 36' fishing boat to a 32'.

Considering the fortunes as of late in national elections, maybe the GOP should realize how fortunate some wealthy people are and blaming poor people for everything and give up this "every man for himself, I shouldn't help anyone out" rhetoric. I mean, what do you have to lose?

It has a much different impact. Poor people don't pay enough in income taxes to worry about though.

Which is why taxes should be low across the board.

I made 42,387 in 2011. I owed $723 in taxes. Not a ton, but it hurt.
