Ejecting players that punch a player's helmet is a bad rule. Agree or Disagree?

I hate the rule. The rule should only be 15 yards. It does ZERO damage to a player and is pretty much pointless to do it.

I don't think it's about if they can feel it. It's about keeping control of the game. Got to draw the line somewhere.

Completely disagree. Keeping them there could end up causing a full blown brawl.

What if it's an uppercut to the opposing player who is still wearing the helmet?

What if they are wearing a headset instead of a helmet?

This.

If you're out there throwing punches at people you need to go.

Maybe I missed it, but did they eject the Oklahoma tackle?

football is a violent sport though. there's a lot of personal fouls that could escalate a fight just as easily.

That's really what I'm trying to get at here. I've seen some very weak punches thrown that resulted in a player getting tossed.

And players can get ejected for personal fouls if the ref deems it appropriate.

For a defenseless player, I can understand it.. however, when a defender makes a hit on a player who is in position to take a hit and can sense that a hit is imminent, no ejection should take place.

Throw a punch you need to get a trip home. It's not about where it landed it's about the fact it was thrown.

my deal is that a lot of "punches" player get ejected for are more like gentle slaps to the helmet or pushes.

disagree with OP

good rule and it would be asinine to get rid of it.

That's true, but the problem isn't the effect, it's the act itself.

I get that it is a violent game, but the idea behind that violence is to either separate another guy from the ball or reposition a guy (put him on the ground, move him out of the way, or away from the ball, etc)

Throwing blows doesn't fall into this category.
