re: LHSAA 'lays the wood' on Parkway

So the police are always 100% correct? The coach didn't cause a scene on the field, and didn't get into any verbal confrontation with the cops.

If Les Miles is standing on the sidelines in the middle of the 2nd quarter and Joe Schmo the Arkansas County Sheriff walks up next to him in asks him to leave, is Les Miles supposed to shrug his shoulders and walk off of the field?

Very debatable. The court of law will determine this.

that 25 seed will get to host a game, and should they win, it will be counted as a road game for them, and give them a better shot to host rounds 2 and 3

Was that specifically spelled out in the ruling yesterday.

I think that's stretching it.

After the seedings take place the home/away is determined first by home/away of the previous round.

It's easy to say "in the first round if there is an upset the lower seeded team gets to host," but actually its really because they were the visiting team in the first round.

If we used this year's bracket the Parkway-Live Oak winner matched up with St.Paul's-Hahnville. Had Parkway been on the road with the #7 seed they still be hosting Hahnville who pulled off the upset because they were both on the road and Parkway had the higher seed. If Live Oak would have won, they would be on the road because Hahnville was also on the road but they have the better seed compared to LO.

It works out bracket-wise the same, but hurts PHS in the pocket$ and punishes the kids from hosting a first round play-off game.

Was he doing something illegal? Its not like he was trespassing or anything. There should have been no reason for him to be placed in cuffs and detained or arrested. Just because you hire a detail to work an event doesnt give you the authority to tell them to arrest someone just because you dont get your way.

This is a stupid situation and that principal should be fired, I wouldnt want her showing my kids how they are supposed to act in public.

The list of penalties is-

-No home playoff games in 2013
-Must pay for all costs of the hearing
-Probation for the school and principal, the latter of the two is "officially reprimanded"
-Parkway must "revise its pregame band routine"
-Principal must attend next LHSAA handbook certification

They also won't be reimbursed for travel expenses. That hits pretty hard when talking about 3 school buses and food for a football team. That's not even counting Parkway's all important band. I could understand losing one playoff game at home, but all of them?

Serving as a host spot for an LHSAA post-season event is a responsibility and Parkway blew it royally because of this power-tripping bitch.

I think the only reason they didn't get tossed from the playoffs completely is that the coach and players weren't at fault and didn't start shite with Live Oak during or after the game.

As far as the travel expenses go, I'd have a little sympathy for them if not for the fact that the principal brought all these problems down on the program.

I agree with those upthread who said that Parkway should have the penalties reduced, if not completely reversed, if she gets canned.

I have no prior knowledege of Parkway High, but I do credit their kids and coaches for not stooping down to the level of Dr. Psycho Principal and acting entitled like she was. Sounds like they exhibited good sportsmanship throughout the game.

Agree 100%. But taking home games away doesn't hurt anyone but the Parkway football team.

It is also going to throw a wrench in the playoff bracket. Let's say that Parkway was forced to play the playoffs this year with no home games. They would have traveled to LO. Say LO manages to win. This counted as a road game for LO (someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this was how I read the ruling). Hahnville beat #10 St Paul on the road. Hahnville is ceded #23 and LO is #26. With both teams being on the road the higher ceded team should have the home game, in this case Hahnville. Now not just Parkway is getting screwed but Hahnville now loses a home game.

Having thought this through, no playoffs period would be better than the current punishment. Not only are Parkway kids getting screwed because of Mrs. Bougeis's ego, now kids from other schools are getting the shaft as well.

So how is Hahnville screwed? They host no matter what.

Hahnville would have hosted in that scenario

I'd hit it. With a 2x4 between the eyes.

That's not anything about her looks as much as her personality, as I HATE anyone who goes on a "Call me DOCTOR" rant. That goes back to a teacher I once had, a football coach's wife no less, who insisted on being called "doctor" despite the fact that she never completed her thesis.

Good. Thought I'd read somewhere that LO's win would have counted as a road game.

I know exactly how they work. For instance, say the #24 and #25 ceded teams win in the first round. The #24 cede gets the home game becuase they are the higher ranked team.

Just didn't know if Parkway's opponents next year will be viewed as having had a home or away game if Parkway should have hosted. Even if it counts as a home game for Parkway's opponent, there is still potential for there being shifts in who is the home team in the later rounds.

Not respecting your authority is not a reason to use force. As a police officer, you better know that the force you are about to use is warranted, otherwise you're just as wrong as the principal.

Any use of good judgment would have told them not to do. The good news is their bad judgment should lead to the firing of the principal, who probably deserve it. If they refused to act, as they should have, then it's just an ugly incident that might, or might not, warrant discussion on this board.

I'm not sure if they are doing it this why, but how Parkway is treated and how the opponent is treated can be viewed as two different things.

In other words, if Parkway is at the 25 seed, it can be seen as a home game for both for the purposes of determining home field for the next round. So if 25 Live Oak hosts 8 Parkway and LO wins, then LO would travel to either second-round opponent.

Not sure if that's how they set it up, but that would be proper to me.

Coach Tut resisted? As in resisted an officer? Not quite.
This Dr C approached him, with two uniformed tards in tow, and she told him to clear his team from the field. Tut informed her that her own coach was in agreement with the time usage, and his time was not up. she then turns to the two tards and says "Cuff him". The tards comply, and Coach Tut is escorted off without any resistance whatsoever.

Bossier PD is just as wrong as this stupid biotch.
