I'd be interested in knowing people's thoughts about this story.

The alleged assault left the 55-year-old male bus driver with serious face and head injuries, according to NBC12, a station in Richmond.
According to the police report, the alleged attack forced the driver to stop the vehicle and call the police.
"It's a dangerous position to be in," bus monitor Hilda Davis told NBC12. "To be attacked like that is a terrible thing to anybody. I feel all these drivers' pain. You know, it's a risk and somebody needs to be held accountable. I don't like this at all."

These are at risk children they can be rehabilitated if we spend more money and treat them with the respoect they deserve.

Of course it was the bus driver's fault. He should know better than to attack those kids crayons. They need those crayons. The kids were perfectly within their rights to teach that driver to not dis their crayons.

Two thoughts.
1. If, as one mother claimed, the bus driver was beating a kid and the others jumped in to break it up, it might have been (only to a certain extent) justified.
2. I don't think it was justified. Sounds more like mob mentality that escalated, started by kids throwing crayons at the driver while the bus was in motion.
The article isn't clear. It says the driver had to stop the bus because of the attack. That implies the kids jumped on him before he stopped it. But it also says one parent claims he was beating on a student, and that's when the others jumped in. That implies that he'd already stopped, maybe because of the crayon bombardment.

Seriously, though, if my son and his pals are throwing crayons at the bus driver and the bus driver starts hitting him, and if my kid and his pals beat the dude unmerciful, I will discipline my kid appropriately. Harshly. But will I secret harbor a sliver of happiness that this adult took some shots? Yes, I will.
