^ From where?

Thank God.

That color scheme would look like Tigerland parking lot vomit.

I'm at the Rendezvous Tavern, and from where I sit, Brass is still in play. Werd!

I keep hearing people say "Pelicans". Is that name official, did I miss something.lol.

Pelicans is not official, it's just a name that Benson already owned the rights to so it's one of the more obvious leading candidates. Pelicans got a bit of a bump recently because the Pelicans' colors were the same Navy, Red, and Gold colors that Gayle Benson says will be the new team colors.

I'd say the only thing we really know is the color scheme says anything Mardi Gras like Krewe is probably out, and it also suggests that Voodoo is out too because I can't see that color scheme fitting The Voodoo very well either.

I'm really hoping they are throwing out really shitty names so that the actual name sounds even cooler when it is announced. In my opinion, Pelicans is on par with Spirit, just a shitty name fit for a 12 year old girls softball team.

Pelicans is no higher than third in my preferences.

Voodoo is one. By far. Then krewe if done right. Krewe of New Orleans. Then Pelicans maybe.

I just don't see how the data is encouraging for those. The data need not reflect reality, admittedly.

It's not an inherently cool name, but the right artwork will sell whatever we end up with. I'm more concerned with the artwork than the name, and I don't really like the color scheme so the artwork becomes even more important.

Seriously, if they choose Pelicans with that color scheme, there is going to be Creole Blue Hornets gear in the Arena for years to come. I argued hard for the rebrand and now I feel like an arse for doing so. It seems to keep getting worse and worse.

I used to be slightly anti-rebrand. I've grown to be neutral, given a good brand.

I'm going to support the team regardless. I put up with teal (ugly), and I'll put up with Pelicans. In time, we'll all embrace it enough.

Habit and good memories form these bonds, not `coolness' or first impressions or most of the things bandied about in these casual fora.

I never bought teal merch because it was ugly. When they switched to creole blue, I started buying merch. The new color scheme will push me more towards not buying merch. Sorry, but ugly is ugly, regardless of the name attached to said ugly. I will certainly go to games and cheer, but I'm not going too wear ugly clothes because Gayle Benson has shitty taste. I'd rather rock creole blue nostalgia.

I just don't buy merch. I like the creole blue 100 times better than the teal, but I really just don't care about the looks. It's a tribal thing, not a style thing, at least for me. I also think the MG jerseys are great at MG and not other time for the same reason. That's just me.

I have my one jersey I got a while back (teal), and that's it. I'll wear it likely until they win a title. Then I'll retire it and get a new one. If I'm feeling froggy, maybe I'll be a `Pelicans' one to start, then move on.

I've got a couple ideas--and this is not based off of the color rumors at all.

New Orleans Cornets
-Look up what a cornet is. Use that with the current NOLA logo. Alter color scheme

New Orleans Paddlers
-Use the Steamboat Natchez font for all branding, with black/red/white/whatever colors you want

New Orleans Revelers
-If you want the Mardi Gras theme

Welcome.

FYI, Revelers has been discussed quite a bit by posters on here. Also, I've suggest Pilots or River Pilots for the Steamboat connection, but like Paddlers it is just too awkward, in my opinion.

It doesn't get the mention that others do, but I do like the ring of Revelers and it's very New Orleans.

My preferences are (in alphabetical order):

Buccaneers
Krewe of New Orleans
Pelicans
Voodoo

Buccaneers

Everything points to this not being an option. It's already an NFL team, and the natural shortening of it Bucs conflicts with another NBA team, the Bucks. I don't see Stern approving that.

Krewe of New Orleans

I don't mind it, but I can understand why some don't

Pelicans

My opinion on that is known.

Voodoo

Probably my favorite, but I don't think it's realistic. However, I wonder why Benson couldn't treat it like the European clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona. A lot of them have football club teams and basketball club teams. How about Voodoo BC and Voodoo AC?

Brain fart: forgot that Benson isn't an owner of the Voodoo anymore.

We could be the Gargoyles and the mascot could be those creepy graveling looking Gargoyles that some artist installed all over town.

The artist's name is Thomas Randolph Morrison and the sculpture is called "New Orleans Gargoyle."
