Three aspects of being a college head coach

Great college coaches must be good in three areas: recruiting, game management, and program management. Most coaches are good at one or two, but few if any are great at all three. Miles is like Bobby Bowden, great program manager, great recruiter, and average game manager. Most people focus on the negatives and lose sight of the positives in Mile's tenure, but we shouldn't take his program management skills for granted. He is one of the best in the game right now. Be careful what you wish for

Average game manager??? His teams finished in the top 5 for like 10 straight years.

Top 3 for sure.

i agree with most of what you said. but i think miles is a better than average game manager. many LSU fans are jsut uber critical and his frick ups are magnified AND NEVER FORGOTTON by some. i think miles is every bit as good of a game mgr as steve spurrier yet spurrieer never gets trashes, at least by LSU fans. spurrier won ONE NC and got trashed in one; just like miles but miles sucks and spurrier is great (according to some).

Nah, he's just average in game preparation and management. His recruiting and program management (hiring coordinators) have carried his success. I agree with the OP.

I think he is very good at game prep and better than average game manager, but I didn't want to seem like a sunshine pumper
