Stanford, Florida, ND, Bama, FSU???

My vote is Florida. Who am I missing that belongs in this discussion?

Florida
LSU
Bama
Notre Dame
USCe
Stanford

in that order

ETA: I was very pleasantly surprised at the leaps and bounds that Florida made on D. I like seeing Muschamp do well. Great program he's building over there

Yea forgot about Uga. And I can't include Lsu with how they finished the year defensively.

I understand. I tried to look at it as a whole. What they did to A&M and Bama was awesome. Ole Miss and Arkansas were just typical rivalry games and we let too many points get on the board. I almost think our defense slacked off when they saw how much better our offense became.

The Alabama loss was essentially the end of the season and a lot of young players on the team. That D shut Alabama down for almost an entire half and stopped Manziel. They just shut it down at the end.

Stanford held USC to 14 points and ND held them to 13 (though USC should have kicked the FG.)

More impressive, Stanford held Oregon to 14 points (averaging 55) Their lowest point total since the first game of 2009 in the sucker punch game against Boise State.

Stanford held everyone under 20 (16.9 per game total) - except their strange lone glitch where they gave up a ton of points to Zona.

Twice they held a team to negative rush yards and 2.4 yards per carry for the season. Their linebackers were extremely impressive this year.

I feel like these are pretty accurate rankings. I always like looking at Football Outsider statistical rankings LINK

1. Alabama
2. Michigan State
3. Florida
4. Stanford
5. LSU
6. BYU
7. Notre Dame
8. Florida State

not this year. In their only 2 big games this year they got lit up on defense.

Florida's D was far more impressive

They gave up more than 17 points one time this season, that's pretty damned impressive.

Florida
Notre Dame
Alabama
Stanford
Georgia (post Cocktail Party)
LSU (though they've looked shaky the last few weeks)

I don't think Florida was as dominant in stretches as some of other teams but considering the level of competition and our subpar offense most of the season, it's a miracle that they played as consistently well as they did all season.

maybe so, but they played the weakest schedule of all the good defenses and gave up 400+ yards in their 2 biggest games while forcing 0 turnovers.

They don't seem very good at defending the pass
