heypaul Penn Fan The O-T Lounge Member since May 2008 23996 posts	What kind of citrus fruit is this? (Posted on 11/26/12 at 5:34 pm) This is the tree in my buddy's backyard, and he says its never bloomed in the 5 yrs they've been there. It's about the size of a softball, it taste like an orange when you bite into it and a lemon after you swallow....

(Posted on 11/26/12 at 8:51 pm to heypaul) The fruit looks like a Meyer lemon. An ugly one. Taste described sounds like a Meyer lemon as well. He should fertilize that baby.

Could just be some bastard lemon/orange.

(Posted on 11/27/12 at 8:29 am to heypaul) It's one of the most upright citrus trees I've seen. You can check low on the trunk and see if it has a grafted joint or elbow. If it does, it's producing some known variety most likely. If no visible graft line, most likely overgrown rootstock.
