Doesn't six years sound a tad extreme?

He would have been arrested if that happened on the street. He's lucky.

I'd have banned him for life.

So would I. That shite has no place in a professional league. He'd have serious jail time in the US for that. I'd also have banned the other two players that punched the ref in the head.

how can you be against it?
a lifetime ban for all of them is too lenient
id ban that club for 2 years also

I'm actually pretty shocked. Slam would be the first guy I would say would be in favor of a lifetime ban.

I don't know...I was just thinking that one spur of the moment shot on a referee wasn't worth six years, much less a lifetime ban. I don't know about the state of the ref, looks like he popped up quickly.

If this was the second time he had struck a ref, I'd ban him for life. First time, though, I'm not sure. I was thinking a year or two and a heavy fine.

Or perhaps he should get arrested and charge with an assault. Do the time, there's your punishment. I don't know, just thinking out loud.

This is probably why I'm not the commissioner of any sport.

All avatars have to be hosted now. Post them in Breesus' thread on the Help Board if you need help.

Referees are, and should be, completely off-limits from stupid acts of thuggery. That entire team makes Ben Thatcher look like Ghandi. The governing body would be sending the wrong message to other players by giving the player anything less.

From some more digging I've done, three other players were banned. Not sure how long.
